I don't think Illinois State was a great move for him even if he wants to play immediately.
Matt Brown for Illinois State is considered an NFL prospect and a candidate for CFPA's top quarterback

It just doesn't make any sense to me. This guy had 242 passing yds/game and completed 60%+ of his passes. Why not look at E. Illinois, W. Illinois, or S. Illinois. The Salukis lose Dieker to the NFL (Steelers) & Western loses its versatile Dan Persa-like Matt Barr.
He had a huge game against Youngstown and was the national player of the week:
