Citadel Transfer

Post by SDHornet »

It was recently announced that Sac State got a transfer from The Citadel. It was QB Tommy Edwards and was 56 for 98 with 588 yards, 6 TD’s and 3 INT’s in four games. Obviously he won’t be available this season but I was wondering if any Citadel posters (or anyone else) has any input on the guy. Did he show much potential? Did he have any apparent weaknesses? What were his strong points? :?:

I thought he was going to New Mexico State. Anyway, he showed a lot of poise for a knob (freshman) who was thrown into the fire because QB's higher on the depth chart were unable to play.

One of the reasons he came to The Citadel was the offense, which was very much like his high school offense. Now that we are converting to the TO, there was really no place for him on the team.

Tommy is a promising spread offense QB. Good instincts, but needs more time in facing college level opponents and the speed of the game. Basically he needs to learn how to read defenses better. Tommy moved the ball well for when he was put in at first, but after more film on him appeared teams started planning for him and he started to throw a few more interceptions. Not real tall and his ball flight shows it, but he is on target. If we had stayed with the spread I expected him to be the eventual starter.

Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I don't like that attitude. I can assure them it is much more serious than that.
