I'm not sure how i missed this....
the first time a Democrat has been elected from the 1st District since 1980 — was a stunning upset, flipping to Democratic blue from GOP red a district that Trump won with 53.3 percent of the vote just two years ago.
https://www.thestate.com/news/politics- ... 85930.html

Mark Sanford lost the GOP Primary b/c he wasn't lock step with Trump. He wouldn't support the GOP candidate (Kate Arrington).

I thought Kate won on Tuesday. Admittedly it's been a hellish week at work.

She lost. The 1st District, which includes Charleston (which truly is 1 of 3 cities that controls the SC) has gone Blue for the first time since 1980.

Charleston is very blue and Cunningham vowed to vote against Pelosi as Speaker. That's a huge plus.

30 seats so far, 10 undecided, donks lead in 5.

Probable recounts coming in GA governor's race and FL Senate seat.

Since 1862, the president’s party on average loses 32 House seats and more than two Senate seats in a midterm.

I recall when 30 seats changed hands during the Obama admin. it was a colossal repudiation of the Kenya-born Marxist.

D1 flipping to blue after nearly 40 yrs is interesting. I've lived most of my life in that district, aside from Charleston being the outlier (having a Democrat mayor for 40+ yrs), it's impressive to see this area go for a democrat over a Republican that suckles at Trumps teets.

Montana elected a Democrat senator in a State trump won by 20 pts. :coffee:

True, but Tester would probably be considered a right wing nut job in deep blue states.

We've also had a Dem governor since 2004. :thumb:

Maine went totally BLUE although ranked choice voting will play out for Second District Congressional seat between Bruce Poliquin (R) and Jared Golden (D). Also Maine elected its first female governor ever.
