Which ticks me off. Look at the resume, not record/conference. Maine last year and UNI this year (if they make it) prove that resumes aren't really looked at. UNI will have beaten no one. No playoff teams.Gil Dobie wrote:IMO, if Liberty played in the MVFC, with a 8-3 record, they are in.ToTheLeft wrote:
Liberty would be 8-1 against FCS if they win out, but that wouldn't put them in.
So then honestly... their name, combined with an 8-2 record, is what's good enough to get in.

You could also get Missouri State pushing for a spot from the MVFC.ToTheLeft wrote:Which ticks me off. Look at the resume, not record/conference. I'd like to see Liberty in the playoffs if they are 8-1 vs FCSToTheLeft wrote:Don't even get me startedGil Dobie wrote:

As would I, sir. A trip to Richmond in the first round would be a lot of fun, even if we get killed.Gil Dobie wrote:I'd like to see Liberty in the playoffs if they are 8-1 vs FCSToTheLeft wrote:

Re: Playoffs: Where we stand (10/17)
So, I don't feel like anyone on my bubble list fell off this week... except maybe Furman... and I went ahead and took Delaware off, since I really just can't see them making it past Navy or Nova...
I dunno guys, maybe I am just so blinded by my Liberty homerism, but I think we're one of the last 2 or 3 teams in the running for that last spot...
For arguments sake, lets say the playoffs set up like this
So-Con: Elon (virtually a lock even as an at large... however, they have been known to collapse)
CAA: Richmond (lock)
MVFC: SIU (lock, would be an at large anyways)
OVC: EIU (might make it as an at large if not OVC champ, but I doubt it...)
Sky: Montana (lock)
South: SFA (Same as EIU)
MEAC: SCSU (AQ only, no at large chances)
PL: Lafayette (AQ only, no at large chances)
At Larges:
Nova (lock)
William and Mary (lock)
UNH (lock)
SDSU (lock)
App (virtual lock at this point...but I guess they could throw it away)
Weber/Cal Poly/NAU (One of these teams will make it unless there are upsets, and I really only see one of them getting in...)
UNI (Did they win enough to get in? Does the thought of a home game at the dome get them in?)
McNeese (As App gets better, they get better, however, if they lose to UCA, have they done enough to get in?)
And after those teams, isn't Liberty next? I mean, they'd be right there with UMass, I guess. Who else is left with a legit shot?

SFA will more than likely win the SLC so that would make them the AQ.

Yeah, that's what I meant. SFA would be the AQ, but if they fell out of the AQ spot, they might land an at large...CatMom wrote:SFA will more than likely win the SLC so that would make them the AQ.

I don't think Liberty would be "right there" with UMass. UMass has a win over a top 5 team. Liberty is more likely to be lumped in with FAMU and Albany then with UMass. Liberty doesn't have any good wins. The Lafayette win isn't going to be enough. In fact, I wouldn't consider the Lafayette win any better than Albany over Maine. And that won't be enough either.ToTheLeft wrote:So, I don't feel like anyone on my bubble list fell off this week... except maybe Furman... and I went ahead and took Delaware off, since I really just can't see them making it past Navy or Nova...

I can't wait for next year though to be a fan of a team that can control its own destiny.

I agree. If Umass finishes 8-3 they are likely in the playoffs, I'm not sure Liberty makes it at 9-2 - although they should be considered.danefan wrote:I don't think Liberty would be "right there" with UMass. UNH is FAR from a top 5 team, IMHO. Realistically, they have played one great game, then a bunch of patsies, and struggled against some of them.danefan wrote:I don't think Liberty would be "right there" with UMass. I realize that. However, UMass has no margin for error, and they have yet to prove they are a consistent winning machine. Losses at Maine or Hofstra, or a loss at home to the Dukes (Which would help LU doubly) are all possible.BlueHen86 wrote:I agree.
