I wouldn't call anyone making a prediction a liar. I even thought the UD-DSU series would be a perpetual sellout but I was wrong. The lopsided scores made this series ugly early. Flacco really embarrassed DSU in that first playoff meeting. There were a lot of DSU fans there for that game, as you should recall. I'd guess somewhere in the 3K range, which would be a decent home crowd for them. They were energized and the pregame was fun. By halftime, they were somber and the fun had left the building. I doubt 1K came to the first regular season game or if even 500 have come to the last two games. Nobody wants to see their team get destroyed. For example, the only reason I go to the Navy games is because Delaware has a realistic chance. If we were 0-20 versus Navy and lost 44-7 most of the time, I'd go once for the experience and never return. That's what DSU fans did.89Hen wrote:All I know is I was promised a PACKED house if UD agreed to replace WCUPA with DelSt. Or are you calling henfan a liar?93henfan wrote:
The weather forecast was for severe storms at game time with potential hail. Plus, the game was on a national HD broadcast. Just a recipe for a half empty stadium. Student attendance was actually very good.
I'd go see a playoff game after a blizzard 20 times before I'd sit through heat, humidity, and a hail storm to see DSU.

Eh, it was always going to be overhyped. Can't get around the fact that Delaware is a small, small state and that both schools are made up of mostly people who have never lived in Delaware. Neither team has many kids from Delaware either. So unlike other intrastate games, where 90% of the people involved, in the stands and on the field, are from the state involved, it's more like 90% of the players and fans are not from Delaware. Hard to get a lot of people from PA, NJ, and MD amped up about an intrastate game in the first place, and that's without even considering that DSU stinks.93henfan wrote:I wouldn't call anyone making a prediction a liar. It was more a guarantee than a prediction. And I don't mean to single out henfan, lots of people guaranteed it (KT comes to mind).93henfan wrote:I wouldn't call anyone making a prediction a liar.

The atmosphere for the playoff game was awesome, but they usually are. Sitting the NEZ, I had a front row seat at all the strutting the Hornet players were doing pregame. I couldn't wait for the game to start to shut them up.

Say what you will but we actually looked pretty good in this game (we're not as "terrible" as we were in the other years), maybe in a year we can contend for another MEAC championship. Hope that the guy who replaces Elko next season is decent.

Who's to say you don't contend this year? It's looking like Bethune might be the team to beat and you don't play them this year.DSUrocks07 wrote:Say what you will but we actually looked pretty good in this game (we're not as "terrible" as we were in the other years), maybe in a year we can contend for another MEAC championship. Get by FAMU, NSU and SCSt after the loss to Cincy and you're in the drivers seat.

Huh? The game was never in doubt. A dink and dunk offense may hold onto the ball for awhile, but it doesn't do very much. West Chester had a host of big plays against UD - DSU couldn't break anything all day long. Granted, you may be good enough to contend for a MEAC title, but that doesn't speak all that highly of a MEAC title. And if Elko is gone next season even the dink and dunk offense may not be an option.DSUrocks07 wrote:http://hensallaccess.bluehens.com/media ... atid=53911

Nobody is in here saying it was. Damn, can't I at least hold a little bit of optimism for the rest of the season. I'm not like the rest of the Blue Hen fans who think that one OOC loss means that we should just pack it in for the rest of the season.
Also, this isn't 2007. Just because we're "terrible" doesn't mean every member of the MEAC is. We went 3-8 last year.

So is Elko now the "greatest QB DSU has ever had"?
