Of course Greenwald and Taibbi take Obama and the Donks "to task" on the RARE occasion.kalm wrote:Feel free to to disagree with anything I've posted from Greenwald or Taibbi. They both frequently take the Obama administration and Democrats to task on a variety of issues. It's called consistency...honesty. But yes, they both tend to be true progressives.
I like progressives. I also appreciate honest and consistent conservatives like Pat Buchannon, Joe Scarborough, Ron Paul.
But please continue...
Why? Because sometimes on some issues they aren't far enough to the left in Greenwald and Taibbi's opinion.
Consistent conservatives?
Buchannon and Paul will have their moments of clarity on occasion, but in general, they're nutjobs, and Joe Scarborough is just an insignificant token on MSNBC.

"Moderate" is your word, I clearly stated that I'm a member of the radical middle.
Many people like to paint themselves as badass conservative and conk politicians and pundits rhetorically and too often literally follow suit. But then their kid ends up being gay, their daughter marries a colored, or they discover compassion in some long lost deep recess of the heart and quietly donate money to help the poor rather than letting the lazy slobs pull themselves up by the bootstraps, etc.
I like the notions of self reliance, limited government, and low taxes and I'm concerned with and, professionally and personally, deal with nanny government on almost a daily basis. So yeah...I get it. The problem is that the Republican Party which is supposed to represent conservatism has swung so far to the right, pandering to a small minority of theocrats and Grover Norquists that it believes it's own bullshit.
The country is significantly further left than how it's currently being governed and polls on a variety of specific issues constantly show this.
So I didn't leave whatever your idea of what the center is...your idea of the center left me. Or something like that.

Greenwald and Taibbi see very little difference between the Obama and Bush administrations. You obviously don't read either one of them so I can assure you that articles on Obama's record on civil liberties and crony capitalism are not only NOT rare, they have pretty much been the focal point of their journalism over the past three years. And to the left? Then I guess Ron Paul is also to the left of Obama when it comes to civil liberties, and Newt Gingrich called out Mitt Romney as a vulture capitalist...so.....Baldy wrote:Of course Greenwald and Taibbi take Obama and the Donks "to task" on the RARE occasion.kalm wrote:Feel free to to disagree with anything I've posted from Greenwald or Taibbi. So what if Scarborough is a token? He gets as much airtime as Maddow, Ed Schultz, and Chris Matthews combined. He's a reasonable conk...the kind that has been jumping ship and getting out politics for the past decade. No room in that party now for the Olympia Snows and Chuck Hagels of the world.

Baldy,
Damn, boy, you're tangled up in Limbaugh's nut sack worse than we thought!
Seriously, now. Take off the red-tinged glasses and join the human race, bruh. All that media shit - it's theater and little else. Relax. Don't want you strokin' out here defending Charles Krautzenheimer on something stupid like Conk sergeants killing kids.

"Conservatives" donate to help the poor all the time. In fact they are probabaly typically more charitable in terms of private charity than liberals are. They just don't believe in having government compell people to help the poor.
You should not confuse being opposed to government programs to compell helping the poor with lacking compassion.

Re: R.I.P. FOX NEWS
On one hand I will admit that I have never watched Jon Stewart's show. I don't even know what network it's on.
On the other hand I don't understand why anyone would think that watching Jon Steward is some kind of badge of honor...like that means you're "in the know." While I've not seen his show, I've seen him from time to time and I just don't see watching him as being some kind of indication that someone is "sophisticated" or "informed."
I also don't see it as what Fox News is competing against. Oh, sure, in one sense any TV show is competing against everything else that's on at the same time. But it's kind of like Jersey Shore on MTV. It's a different genre.
Finally...and this one I know there is an answer to because it's obvious that all the media do it...I don't understand why the younger demographic is so sought after when it's the older demographic that has the money to spend. Just don't get that.
