The winners write the books that have any half life to 'em at all...
The blanket dismissal of Obama as "the worlds worst" whatever is a bit of an over statement
and a HUGE wet day dream of the RIGHT said out loud by the EXACT same guys who said:

"Romney in a landslide"

They are as blind and single minded as lab mice
Sure we can all agree the Obama administration has been a series of sh!tty appointments
a series of failed foreign policy
and a series of political missteps - over and over

But to pretend like that is somehow not the normal presidency these last 30 years is patently absurd
Obama actually got done some landmark stuff and he will be rewarded in history for that
its just a truth...

That's the truth. Look at the way Wilson is generally portrayed and, while I know there will be disagreement, he is arguably one of the worst. Of course, part of that might have been his incapacitation :) . But on the other hand, he was considered part of academia, so what choice to history academics have but to praise him

I watched the eulogy Obama did this weekend, and it was funny to watch him flip the switch to get his black preacher thing going.

Also like the guy who was recognizing people in the audience and said (paraphrasing) "Al Sharpton is here, and Jesse Jackson....where's Jesse? Al, you guys are usually joined at the hip."

Wilson was certainly not the best of them- and he did get us into a world war we had no business being involved in (with the help of a relative of mine who was his minister to the Court of St James... an over the top Anglophile)

then he allowed the UK and France to set the stage for what would start us all on the path to what will be known as the fall of western civilization (once it all comes out in the wash- and we haven't yet hit the spin cycle)

so yeah- Wilson was pretty bad if you consider that decisions he made nearly 100 years ago are skullfvcking us today

The history books will tell future generations quite a few things about American's first black president

*The affordable Care Act
25 years from now people won't be able to imagine a world where some folks didn't have healthcare
And it will be difficult to explain why people didn't and why some people did

*Killing Bin Laden
25 years from now he'll be the president listed under that banner

*Marriage Rights
25 years from now nobody will understand why tax breaks and Retirement Benefits and Estate holdings were only available to a man and a woman (and a corporation) but withheld from same sex partners..?
and it will be difficult to explain why a government would openly benefit one and not all

:coffee:

Not saying I think he's a good president
but this fantasy that he's going down as the worst ever is a pipe dream
The history books will have a whole bunch of nice things to say about his terms
We're still in the honeymoon phase of the ACA…people that couldn't get insurance have gotten it so for now you can brag…but there's going to be a day of reckoning not too far down the road when we have a growing and aging and fattening population and we haven't done anything to address the fact that we don't have enough doctors and don't have enough options and transparency with costs. But I suppose people could always say "things would've been worse without it".

What exactly did Obama have to do with SSM besides having an "evolution" after the polls showed there was majority support for it? He repealed DADT but didn't lift a finger to do anything with SSM. He's about as responsible for SSM as Nixon is for the legalization of abortion.

The Bin Laden thing…I give him credit for green-lighting the operation and not bothering to ask the Pakistanis for permission but other than that what did he do to make that whole thing possible?

Scholarship in the future is dead if Obama gets credit for any of this stuff.

Exactly. His position at Versailles was horrible, as well as the obsession of the allies and the Middle East. Thanks guys....you exacerbated a problem. :thumb:

Oh I hear you... and I don't disagree with you either

As much as GWB's legacy organizers are busily trying to distance him from the "one man's war" thing today
all we hear about is "congress" and "legal action"
and we're urged to forget the fear tactics used to get congress in line
and "anybody who votes against this will NEVER get re-elected"
Congress are re-election puppets and do as they are instructed and respond to fear tactics like children

It was (no matter how hard his team still tries) ONE MANS WAR...
and that will be the lasting story - no matter how much denial is used to make other stories

Obama is a politician and lit the White House up in gay pride colors
for ONE REASON only - an image for History books - he's taking credit
and he'll get the credit for it (just watch) that image will last for eternity

I've said this before and I'll say it again: he only said that to get elected. You could tell he was full of shit when he was interviewed by Rick Warren in 2008. It was only a matter of time before he "evolved" on the issue.

Perhaps I should do some more reading on Hoover and see if I agree. :thumb:

Right. My question was, how different would it have been without Watergate. Similar to how different would Bush 2s legacy have been withouth 9/11. :coffee:

Seems like presidents in my lifetime all have had that "one" thing in their administration (always bad) that they're known for. Some (like Obama) seem to think it's some sort of contest and the more "things" they accumulate the better.

Seems like presidents in my lifetime all have had that "one" thing in their administration (always bad) that they're known for. Some (like Obama) seem to think it's some sort of contest and the more "things" they accumulate the better.
How many of Obama's things equal Watergate and the Iraq War?
