She did it with warmth and humor, and came across as the every-person....it's becoming mroe and more clear that she was a genius pick for McCain. Same crowd that packed in to the same five restaurants within a block of their hotels in Minneapolis and St. Paul... seriously - NONE of the delegates left the creepy and otherworldly "security zone" and actually spent time in either city... next GOP convention should be in a setting that would make GOPER delegates comfortable enough to actually leave their hotels... i'm thinking... Colorado Springs.

1. There were no protestors outside their zone in Minneapolis. They were in St. Paul - 9 miles away. Since the VAST majority of the delegates stayed in downtown Minneapolis - this wouldn't have had any effect on them. They literally were shepherded straight out of the Xcel Center on to the freeway and off to Minneapolis... they never even saw downtown St. Paul.

2. Despite this fact, very few of them ever bothered to leave their hotels in Minneapolis - most restaurants, bars, etc reported no noticeable change in business... the only thing that happened was the business near the security zone lost almost all their business. The delegates huddled in their hotels and never really ventured out at all.

I lived here - the tear gas from the overzealous riot police got in to my building on two separate nights. I damn near got arrested just driving home on the last night of the convention - for driving down a street at the wrong time...

however, when in Minneapolis - just 9 miles away - all was quiet, peaceful and normal... hell, other than the wafting tear gas, my neighborhood was normal - and i live less than a half mile from the convention site.

A couple of minutes without oxygen to the brain is the definition of a Republican. Three minutes and you're a Tea Party member. Four minutes and you could get elected in a Republican primary.... :coffee:
