More than 100 federal judges have now ruled at least 200 times that the Trump administration’s effort to systematically detain immigrants facing possible deportation appeared to violate their rights or was just flatly illegal, according to a POLITICO review.
The rulings come from judges appointed by every president since Ronald Reagan, including 12 appointed by President Donald Trump.
...
Since July 8, when Immigration and Customs Enforcement reversed 30 years of practice and determined that ICE must lock up everyone facing deportation — even if they’ve lived in the country for decades and have no criminal record — federal courts have issued increasing warnings. The new ICE policy, they note, doesn’t just subject millions more people to detention while they fight deportation, it also bars them from even asking an immigration judge to consider releasing them on bond.
“Courts around the country have since rejected the government’s new interpretation,” U.S. District Judge Kyle Dudek, a Florida-based Trump appointee, ruled Wednesday. “This Court now joins the consensus.”

Nobody hears the people sing: Ticket sales at Kennedy Center plunge by nearly 50% after Trump takeover
“Given the unprecedented takeover of a nonpartisan arts institution combined with the inexperience and rhetoric of the new management, I expected a decline in sales; however, it is truly shocking to see that these actions have been worse for business at the Kennedy Center than the aftermath of a global pandemic,” a former staff member told the outlet. “These numbers are likely more dire than they appear, as they don’t account for canceled productions or shows moved into smaller theaters due to weak ticket sales.”
Michael Kaiser, who served as the Kennedy Center president from 2001 through 2014, warned that there could also be impacts on fundraising efforts.
“Depressed ticket sales not only cause a shortfall in revenue; they also bode unfavorably for future fundraising revenue,” Kaiser told the Post.

Title 8 permits immigration authorities to detain deportable immigrants who are already residing in the US. But they can only detain a fraction of them. ICE only has 40+k beds, and around 60k people in custody right now. They couldn’t detain ‘millions more people’ while they fight deportation because they don’t have the ability to.
Wake me up when SCOTUS says what the Trump admin is doing is illegal.

Before I even read the article I was thinking let me guess, he imports his cheap toys from China. Sure enough.
ie China....The IEEPA tariffs are paid by U.S. importers like Learning Resources, which manufactures most of its educational toys in Asia...

Technically, we only off-shored our manufacturing of things that were relatively easy to manufacture. We kept the complicated stuff here, and we recently (past 10-20 years) started to keep the trade secret stuff here as well as it was apparent government sanctioned stealing of intellectual property was the modus operandi for China and others.

Of course, we could've avoided a lot of that head shaking by not having way too much of it be true (Russia hoax, soft coup, rigged Democratic primaries, Hunter's laptop and squashing of that story, government pressure on media and social media sites to censor and eliminate viewpoints, lawfare, etc) in the first place. There's more than just a kernel of truth to what those people are nodding their heads for and that's the real shame.

The russia collusion thing wasn't a hoax. There were connections between the trump campaign and russia. Not enough for an indictment but enough to say that it wasn't a hoax. Not enough for the first impeachment either. The rigged Democratic primaries? In 2020? I'm guessing that both parties have engaged in those kinds of shenanigans in the last hundred years in order to get the candidate they think has the best chance to win the general election.

Agreed, hoax is the wrong word. And for the record, both Hillary's and Trump's campaigns had connections with the Russians - that's where all the information (some true, a lot false) was coming from. And yes, certainly not enough to warrant any of the things that resulted from it.UNI88 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 03, 2025 9:55 amThe russia collusion thing wasn't a hoax. For the Dem primaries, I was referring to all of the past 3 ones (2016, 2020, and 2024). 2016 had the superdelegates and the pushing of Bernie to the side to nominate Clinton. 2020 was the same thing (pushing Bernie to the side), but this time by coordinating all the other candidates to simultaneously leave the race and coalesce behind Biden. And in 2024 it was the whole Biden fiasco, but coupled with the coronation of Harris rather than any open process to nominate her properly. If the Dems can manage to have an actual, democratic primary system in 2028 it will be a welcome relief from strongarming the past 3.

Bernie’s democratic socialism is still compatible with liberal democracy. Trump’s national socialism is not. Thank you for your attention to this matter!
Bernie’s democratic socialism is still compatible with liberal democracy. Trump’s national socialism is not. Thank you for your attention to this matter!
On Friday I wrote about the Trump administration’s latest foray into national socialism:
This is literally seizing the means of production. But to, you know, make America great again. Or something.
- Trump wants to build nuclear power plants.
- He has chosen Westinghouse to build them.
- He will pay Westinghouse $80 billion for the projects.
- In return he has compelled Westinghouse to pay him the government 20 percent of any “cash distributions.”
- Between now and the end of January 2029, the government can compel Westinghouse to go public via an IPO, at which point the government will be awarded 20 percent ownership of the company, likely making it the single largest shareholder.
Other of Trump’s national socialist policies include:
This is not quite the economic regime of China or Saudi Arabia. But it’s in the same zip code. And it’s heading in their general direction and away from the regulated American free market economy as it had existed until ten months ago.
- Refusing to enforce the 2024 law requiring the sale of TikTok until he was able to compel that the business be sold at an extortionately discounted price to his political allies.
- Creating a Golden Share of U.S. Steel for his government.
- Requiring Nvidia and AMD to pay the government 15 percent of all revenues from chip sales to China.
- Acquiring a 10 percent ownership stake in chipmaker Intel.
- Acquiring a 15 percent stake in rare earth producers MP Materials, a 10 percent stake in Lithium Americas Corp., and a 10 percent stake in Trilogy Metals Inc.
- Creating a “Strategic Bitcoin Reserve and Digital Asset Stockpile.”
- Taking steps to create a sovereign wealth fund to be used as a vehicle for government investment.
- He has demanded that Microsoft fire an executive he does not like and demanded that private law firms commit to doing pro bono work on behalf of clients he chooses for them.
So why is it so hard for people to just say, out loud, what is obvious: Donald Trump is a socialist who is trying to make the American economy function more like Communist China?
