An expert believes that MH17 was downed by a missile fired from rebel-held Torez in eastern Ukraine - and a BUK anti-aircraft launcher has been pictured rumbling into the town just two hours before the crash, leading to speculation that it was this piece of equipment that was used to bring about the tragedy.

On Friday a missile launcher with two rockets missing was then filmed by Ukrainian intelligence services being smuggled on the back of a truck to Russia.

Anton Gerashchenko, from Ukraine's interior ministry, said of the missing missiles that 'it's not hard to guess why'.

Launch site? The BUK missile system photographed in Torez hours before MH17 was downed

'It was exactly these missiles which brought death to almost 300 innocent passengers of the ill-fated Malaysian Boeing,' he said, according to the Telegraph.

He continued: 'International terrorist Igor Strelkov, aka Girkin, last night visited Snizhne to settle the situation with the downed Malaysian Boeing.

'In the night the Buk system, from which the missile was launched, was removed to Russia, where it is likely to be destroyed.'

He claimed that the 'direct performers of the terrorist attack' are also likely to have been killed to avoid any witnesses.

The rebels 'happily announced that they had downed the Ukrainian AN-26' when in fact they had shot the Boeing, he said.

Dr Igor Sutyagin, Research Fellow in Russian Studies from the Royal United Services Institute, believes that MH17 was shot down by rebels based in the 3rd District of Torez.

Dr Sutyagin said the evidence that Russian separatists were responsible was very strong - and that there's even a suggestion the BUK missile launcher was being manned by soldiers from Russia.

He said: ‘These separatists boasted on Twitter about capturing an BUK SA11 missile launcher [capable of downing high-flying airliners] on June 29, and several hours before the downing of the plane locals in Torez reported seeing BUK missile launchers and separatist flags around the city.

‘Later, there was lots of video posted of the plane falling down and rebels saying that “it was not pointless moving it [the BUK] there”.'

Dr Sutyagin then underscored the emerging Russian link to the tragedy.

He said: 'The military leader of the Donetsk Republic, Igor Strelkov, real name Girkin, a Muscovite, a Russian citizen, posts a video of the intercept.'

This video was taken down once it was discovered that the downed plane was civilian.

The expert implicated Russia further, revealing that the former commander of Russian Air Force Special Operations Command, a Colonel-General, stated recently in an interview that the separatists did not have the expertise to operate the BUK launchers, that only Russian personnel could do so........"

No shit, sherlock. I spent 8 years in ISR and we've had the dumbest soldiers master complex systems in a matter of weeks. Think about it. If you are Russia, and you are providing these freedom fighters with weapons that they may not know how to use, you are going to provide instruction and probably a few people to stick around.

The real tragedy that's being overlooked in all of this is that just hours away from this guy getting his walking papers and an early retirement, now we're going to see this limey fag on TV 24/7 again for next six months:

PAGING SPANDOS

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

MOSCOW (AP) - A top pro-Russia rebel commander in eastern Ukraine has given a bizarre version of events surrounding the Malaysian jetliner crash - suggesting many of the victims may have died days before the plane took off.

The pro-rebel website Russkaya Vesna on Friday quoted Igor Girkin as saying he was told by people at the crash site that "a significant number of the bodies weren't fresh," adding that he was told they were drained of blood and reeked of decomposition.

The Malaysia Airlines Boeing-777 was shot down Thursday, killing all 298 people aboard. The plane was flying 10,000 meters above an area where Ukrainian forces have been fighting separatist rebels. Each side accuses the other of downing the plane.

U.S. intelligence authorities said a surface-to-air missile brought down the plane, and U.S. Ambassador Samantha Power told the U.N. Security Council in New York on Friday that the missile was likely fired from a rebel-held area near the Russian border.

Girkin, also known as Strelkov and allegedly a former Russian military intelligence agent, said he couldn't confirm the information. But it's sure to add to the intense emotions surrounding the crash, with the rebels accused of shooting down the plane.

Girkin said "Ukrainian authorities are capable of any baseness."

He claimed that a large amount of blood serum and medications were found in the wreckage.

Amazing AP would publish this nonsense. Girkin is a member of FSB sent by Russia to Eastern Ukraine as a commander. His family lives in Moscow. Google his name...he's operated in several theaters under several aliases. Further, his voice, heard on a video which recorded the crash and cheered the fireball...verbally stating he would shoot down all planes in his airspace, was identified by a CBS reporter who was kidnapped by Girkin a couple months back, as Girkin.

He's a loose cannon who needs to be silenced...NOT GIVEN AN AUDIENCE.

yeah i figured you'd take the egalitarian comment as a compliment without fully comprehending it

on another note ... in ref to me struggling with being incorrect

feel free to point out the examples and i'll consider them

but the key is to not say anything until you know beyond a shadow of a doubt you are correct

thats a concept you, Jon and SK are still blind to

for example, see SK's very recent attempt to question whether or not Ukrainian rebels are responsible for shooting down the Malaysian AL 777.

You calling someone dense here..

After KY tried to make the ridiculous comparison the downing of the Malaysian 777 to the downing of the Iranian airbus, I pointed out how it was apples to oranges. Then you come on here and do the same as KY- try to ridiculously morally equate the downing of the Iranian airliner by the US Navy to the downing of the Malaysian airliner by the Russian backed rebels. When it was pointed out how ridiculous your equation was, you go off on an a rant about a whole bunch of other stuff. We are talking about the downing of civilian airliners here. Nothing else. Try to stay on topic.

The US and Iran were in low level conflict in 87'-88' when the Iranian airbus was shot down in 88'. Malaysia and Russia aren't in any type of conflict.

The US Navy was in the Gulf at the time to protect tankers and merchant shipping. As I've already said, the year before the Iranian Airbus was shot down by the USS Vincennes, the USS Stark had been attacked in the Gulf, hit by 2 Exocet anti ship missiles fired from an Iraqi Mirage. A few months before the Samuel B Roberts hit an Iraqi mine. That morning the Vincennes helo was fired upon by Iranian gunboats. In addition, the Iranian Airbus had taken off from a dual use military and civilian airfield, was at 7K feet flying at the Vincennes (the Vincennes crew incorrectly identified it as an (Iranian) F-14 descending as if on an attack run instead of ascending) while the Vincennes was trying to engage these Iranian gunboats. The Vincennes had a reason to be trigger happy.

HUGE difference in that and a plane flying level at 33k feet that can't be much of a threat. There hasn't been any case of Malaysians firing on any Russian backed Ukrainian rebels. The Vincennes made numerous unsuccessful attempts to contact with Iranian airbus. The Russian backed rebels made no attempt to contact the Malaysian 777. "Hey, here's a high flying plane. Let's shoot at it".

Again, the 2 shootdowns are apples to oranges. Now I expect an unrelated JSO length rant from you that has nothing to do with the downing of either of these airliners...

And here you are getting your pants in a bunch because some not-so-technically brilliant Russian backed rebels killed 300 people over a war zone.

You are too funny. :dunce:

Meh. Shit happens in war zones. Sometimes it perpetrated by US client states using our funding and/or weaponry. See the 4 kids killed by Israel.

Try and see the big picture.

We, the US of Freaking A, kill innocent people ALL THE TIME. We send in B52s, drones, and our allies in and drop bombs all over the place...and we really don't care who is hit as long as the numbers are acceptable (to us, of course, not the actual victims) and we also get our target.

Obama got tired of hearing about civilian casualties, so he proclaimed ANYONE of fighting age (an age that was conveniently not officially defined) that was in the area of our blasts to be an ENEMY COMBATANT.

You can't make that shvt up. Imagine your buddy, Putin making such a proclamation...you'd have a cow.

We've got the most technologically advanced weapons on Earth, and yet we still have killed FAR, FAR more civilians in the past 8 years under Obama than the freedom fighting rebels did the other day. Hell, we even shoot and kill our own troops, and other troops of our allies. Yea tech savvy us! :thumb:

All, of course, in the name of freedom.

Wait, not freedom. Uh...what excuse are we using these days, because we certainly don't give a crap about anyone's freedom.
