Does Umass just suck (or what)

You tell me:

Sat, Sep 5 at Kansas State L 17-21
Sat, Sep 12 Albany W 44-7
Sat, Sep 19 Rhode Island W 30-10
Sat, Sep 26 Stony Brook W 44-17
Sat, Oct 10 at Delaware L 27-43
What there indicates they DON'T suck? Best win is Albany. URI and Stony Brook suck. They lost to a pathetic FBS team.

They lost to a Big 12 team (barely) on the road, beat three teams they should beat soundly, and lost to a good Delaware team in Newark. How can you, with a straight (sorry for the pun) face, say they suck? They might not have warranted a #12 ranking, but they don't suck by any means.

The CAA hate on this web site is pretty comical.

The UMass defense sure 'sucked' last night.. no pressure at all on Devlin and UD had open receivers all night. Devlin was 19-26 for 284 yrds and 4 TDs and that was with two or three passes dropped.. one which would have been another TD. The UMass running game also sucked last night.. 21 attempts for only 32 yrds. So how good is UMass??? Who knows.. all I know is last night.. they weren't nearly as good as Delaware.

CAA hate? Nah, just a lot of trying to bring back CAA-homers to reality   (and in good fun, I might add).

93Hen - these are the exact arguments the CAA homers use to bash the Big Sky. Don't like it I see when turned around. UMass is a top 25 team, most likely. But had a BSC team done the exact same thing, they would be left off the top 25 completely - for playing a cupcake schedule, and being told that a loss is a loss.

Figured, that's why I've been feeding you back the BSC homer excuses

Nice photos (by UD photog Mark Campbell) of Mark Mackey's circus TD catch to start the game and get The Tub rocking last night:

You can see the tailgate stragglers in the first pic blocking the view of the poor bastards in the front row behind the box seats.

But who am I kidding Jon? I know what you were checking out.

Who are the CAA homers? Most of the CAA posters on this site seem pretty reasonable to me. I see more anti-CAA stuff than I do CAA homer stuff.

I know most of my "CAA is great stuff" is tongue-in-cheek and I suspect 89Hen's posts are the same.

The truth is that across the FCS there are about 12-15 really good teams, and another twenty good teams behind those top 12-15.

Right now, both UMass and Delaware belong in that second tier of good teams, but not in the top tier of really good teams.

I agree regarding the Hens, I'm sure about UMass yet. UMass might be a top 12-15 team that was flat last night.

You could be right by the end of the season, but I did qualify my opinion with the words, "right now."

2003 FCS Champion Delaware lost to Northeastern.

This year's Richmond team looked flat yesterday and against Delaware.

Flat happens. That's the beauty of playoffs.

Of course a Top 10 or any other team can and likely will be flat at some point during an 11 game schedule. It's nearly immpposible to keep a consistantly high intensity level throughout an entire season.. but the really good teams are able to find a way to win when they aren't functioning at that high emotional level.

Note my modifer "That Flat". Of course teams will be flat. But a top 10 shouldn't lay a complete egg like UMass did. They were beyond flat - flattened, and folded like a tortilla.

Yes it is. Everyone knows you are posting tongue-in-cheek, and it still gets a reaction. In fact, I think it makes it even funnier.

How did you know I was an asshole? I try so hard to conceal it, shame I can't even do so on a message board.

What's even funnier is when some newbie jumps in to the defense of one or another, and have no idea this schtick has been played out 100 times on previous threads here and elsewhere.

And it always comes up as ECB. :coffee:
