I don’t recall what poll I saw but I think cal poly started the season ranked somewhere in the low teens. Also I watched most of the cal poly – Sac State game and I was very impressed at the almost seamless transition between the new HC and the new offensive skill position players. Although the starting QB doesn’t have much game time experience, he ran the triple option very well and made good decisions. I was also really impressed with their passing game. They scorched our DB’s early and often and he spread the ball around to many different receivers. They looked solid on defense as well. The defense switched schemes but has a lot of returning starters.
I was hoping Sac State would have been able to surprise cal poly given all the new changes and new starters on offense, but it didn’t happen. CP jumped out to an early 17-3 lead. The Hornets clawed back to make it 17-12 (3 FG’s, 1 TD w/ missed PAT) late in the 1st half. CP was running out the clock when our FS went down with a knee injury. CP immediately threw at the replacement and got a TD with only seconds remaining in the 1st half to make it 24-12. CP added two more TD in the 3rd and Sac State got a garbage time TD late in the 4th.
But again, I was impressed with how well prepared they were for their first game and with all the changes that were made, their ability to essentially pick up where they left off last season.

Not the point. Jon is contending McNeese should be ahead of AppSt because they beat them head to head. McNeese squeaked by a DII in the first week and I think Houston beat up a I-AA. So Houston should be ahead of OkieSt. Jon has now said that both the AGS and the AP Poll are crap. Not sure who is left. Maybe he should check out the TSN Poll that has teams like Valpo, Bulter, Albany, San Diego... recieving votes if he wants to see crap.

Oh, I got THAT. I just think that ultimately, (much like McNeese and ASU), Houston will end up above OSU and McNeese will end up above ASU, due to easier remaining schedules.

I would have SDSU over SIU right now if I were a pollster, but I don't get the lack of love for the dawgs.
Defending conference co-champs (after being picked to finish fifth) with 17 starters returning? I only heard the Marshall game on the radio but it didn't sound that bad, held them to 76 yards rushing.
I think SIU is good, too (I had them @ #12). I had them down in the high teens in the preseason, but the near win against Marshall caused me to move them up last week. I was skeptical in the preseason because, though they appeared to have a super good defense, the offense just looked average.
