Phillies have won 2 World Series in their history. Andy MacPhail has put together 2 World Series champlons in Minnesota. He made some great trades while with th Cubs and Orioles. He didn't win there, because he didn't have a passionate player like Kirby Puckett on the Cubbies or Orioles. Pucketts famous quote from before game 6 of the 1991 World Series: Puckett said, retelling the story years later. "Everybody comes in, and I said, 'Guys, I just have one announcement to make: You guys should jump on my back tonight. I'm going to carry us.'"
Harper turned down more per year from San Francisco. Why? California's state tax rate.
Harper will net about $30 million more over the course of his deal by going to Philadelphia rather than signing with San Fran (so long as he doesn't decide to live in New Jersey, which I suspect he is smart enough to avoid).

Yep. Good point. There's a reason so many athletes want to play in Florida.
However, it was reported yesterday that Harper also turned down 4 years/$180M from the Dodgers.
I guess it was the allure of tranquil Philly that he couldn't resist.
On a serious note, the reality is Harper wanted to go to one team and win there for a long time. He's getting $330M guaranteed, and he's leaving the club with the room to get a Mike Trout or a stud pitching staff and to set up to win multiple championships in the next decade. Should be exciting to see if they can make it happen.

Delaware has the lowest overall tax burden in the tri-state (PA-DE-NJ) area.

It will probably be difficult for MAQA yahoos to overcome the Qult programming but they should give being rational & reasonable a try.

I'm sure he's referring to the Natspos, but it's kinda silly to lump them together (or any of the teams that moved AND got new owners at the same time). There is not a person in DC that cares about the Expos or any of their history. New town, new name, new owner... Nats are their own team, 13 years old.

That's what I thought but that would be like giving Cleveland credit for the Ravens' success.
