Because Bobby felt beholden to his father, he did the double major, twenty hours a semester. He eventually forfeited his place in the PLME program, feeling it wasn't fair to tie up a coveted slot when he was ambivalent. Nevertheless, he would still be accepted into medical school and law school at Harvard and Yale. He'd turn down both to accept a Rhodes scholarship to Oxford, where he'd study public-health policy.
Now, bear in mind that he is NOT a member of an "under represented minority." His minority (Asian Indian) is OVER represented. So he didn't get any special consideration. You can disagree with him if you wish. You can think you're smarter than him because of certain things you choose to believe and such. But it's very unlikely that you, me, Obama or anybody on this board is in his zip code in terms of IQ.
Perhaps what you should be noting is that someone who is a whole lot smarter than you or I are questions some things you think of as rock solid and believes some things you think are absurd.
Doesn't mean you have to agree with him. I disagree with people who I think are a lot smarter than me all the time. But it's good to stand back and realize it when someone who is very intelligent looks at things differently than you do.
Was it his smarts that made him comment on "no go zones" in Europe, his experience, or what he watched on TV?
