Somebody needs to establish an official book of historical screw-overs so we can be sure that every group who had an ancestor who was screwed over can get their due.

I want my check from the Brits for breaking up Irish families and land holdings. FUCK YOU CROMWELL!

My family was uprooted from the Scottish Border and put in Ulster.

I want the US Gov't to pay me reparations for the Union soldier killing my Great-great-great-great Granddaddy 4 months after the war ended.

Most minorities do get preferential treatment. Native Americans were screwed over by the US goverment. Irish were screwed over by US citizens.

You don't see anything wrong in that? My wife is Native American. She receives no special treatment. She also expects none. :coffee:

Wrong in what? That US settlers came in and with the help of the US goverment took land that wasn't theirs and crushed the Native American way of life? You don't see anything wrong in that?

No, but that's why I think Native American deserve preferential treatment.

I do. How do we make it up to those people that we persecuted? How do we make it right? Also, how do we punish the guilty parties?

You see nothing wrong in having laws that everyone must abide by except for these "special people?" You approve of double standards?

Of course I see the wrong done to Indians. Did you not read my post on Page 1 where I use that great word, Injustice?

What good is the US Supreme Court if they are overruled by the Cherokee Nation. How are they an authority on our laws and the last word if the Cherokee can circumvent them?

How do we make it up to those we persecuted? We can't they are dead.

How do we make it right? Well, they have lands, the US Govt spends millions on researching and retaining their culture. You know, the culture of cheap tomahawks and gambling.

How do we punish the guilty parties? Um... Good question. Let's rebuke them. Line them up. You bring me John C. Calhoun, Andrew Jackson, Custard, etc.. and we'll punish them.

Listen, it is without a doubt that Native Americans were treated wrongly. But seriously, we spend $2B a year on courts, education, housing, etc.. I understand heritage and culture. I really do, I identify with my Ulster roots. Why can't we do better as a whole to assimilate them into America? Aren't we treating them like second class citizens, in a way?

I support Kent and Sussex Counties of Delaware and all Maryland and Virginia Counties of the Delmarva Peninsula seceding from the United States to form The Republic of Delmarva.

We will give preferential treatment to Native Americans and pursue nuclear weapons. We may also use chemical weapons on the Maryland Counties if they do not produce enough blue crabs.

Our first act will be to annex all the lands to our north up to the C&D canal bridge, they already split us off from the US, might as well make it official.

I hate Middletown Odessa and Townsend (MOT). I intended to make them a DMZ and heavily mine the yards and roads in that area.

Because:

1) They were here first
2) Their culture exists nowhere else - there is still an Ireland, Africa, etc for that culture
3) What Europeans did to the Native Population (and is still doing, in some cases) is 100x what happened to anyone else.
4) Did I mention they were here first?

1) There is new research showing they were NOT here first. In fact, some of this research suggests Europeans found their way over thousands of years BEFORE the migration across the land bridge. THey wren't here first. They were just here already.

1) Good catch, that was the wrong link. Sorry about that.
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world ... 47152.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
New archaeological evidence suggests that America was first discovered by Stone Age people from Europe – 10,000 years before the Siberian-originating ancestors of the American Indians set foot in the New World.

A remarkable series of several dozen European-style stone tools, dating back between 19,000 and 26,000 years, have been discovered at six locations along the US east coast. Three of the sites are on the Delmarva Peninsular in Maryland, discovered by archaeologist Dr Darrin Lowery of the University of Delaware. One is in Pennsylvania and another in Virginia. A sixth was discovered by scallop-dredging fishermen on the seabed 60 miles from the Virginian coast on what, in prehistoric times, would have been dry land.
2) I never said I approve of eliminating their culture. That's a horrible thing. And you talk about my reading comprehension. Did you read my 2nd point? I have a profound appreciation for heritage and maintaining culture. Slave culture doesn't "exist" but the traditions like Gullah thrive today with no Freedmen's Bureau in operation. We really dicked over those black people. I'm so happy they have a Gov't agency dedicated to their culture, education and law enforcement.

3) So the host gets a pass? Great lesson.

You still ignore the fact that they are separate but equal.
