Well, the war was raging (and in a stalemate) since 1914. We weren't formally involved until the Spring of 1917 (Declaration of War) and weren't formally fighting until November 1917. It is without a doubt that our contribution was pivotal in ending the war. We provided an infusion of energetic fighting men. I find it interesting that in 4 years of war, the UK lost about almost 9 million men. Our 1 1/2 year of active involvement cost a little more than 4.5 million.
If i'm iffy on the numbers but I think i'm close. Someone check a history book, i'm going off memory.
