Are you refusing to praise the white part or the black part?

Just allow same-sex marriage, and stop trying to act like YOUR fucking hetero marriages are all sacred or special - because they aren't.
I said a while back that the church should copywrite the word "marriage" and the government should take away all financial incentives for being a couple.

Call "togetherness" whatever you want (civil union, long-term lovers, two-peas-in-a-pod, etc.)...and the church can have their sanctimonious view of their woman-man version of marriage.

But that won't be good enough for Jon and his ilk. They demand that people see them, and treat them, as equals in all ways.

Life doesn't work that way.

All people aren't equal...and they aren't treated that way. Just ask an ugly person, a fat person, a slow runner, a conservative, a slut...and the list goes on.

But, to Jon, that's different.

What if you we're an ugly, fat, slow, slutty, republican lesbian? Of course if you we're fat, ugly, and slow how would you ever be able to find out if you're a slut?

This is pretty weak smack. You don't like a guy b/c he has a opposing view than your own but when he comes to the realization that he is wrong, you bash him? This is another reason of why America is broken. You can't get the guy credit for changing his position b/c that means you say a good word about the other party.

Good for Portman.

Good for Portman.
Yes, he deserves credit, but he also deserves the smack for being a fool in the first place:
"It allowed me to think of this issue from a new perspective, and that's of a Dad who loves his son a lot and wants him to have the same opportunities that his brother and sister would have -- to have a relationship like Jane and I have had for over 26 years," Portman said.

Portman said that his son, who is now a junior at Yale University, inspired him to reassess his position on same-sex unions. The senator also consulted clergy on the matter, as well as friends such as former Vice President Dick Cheney, whose daughter Mary is openly gay. According to Portman, Cheney told the senator to "follow [his] heart" on the matter.

"The overriding message of love and compassion that I take from the Bible, and certainly the Golden Rule, and the fact that I believe we are all created by our maker, that has all influenced me in terms of my change on this issue," Portman said.
So before this happened, he adamantly opposed gay marriage on religious grounds and assumably the Bible. Evidently, he was also the only father at that time who loved his son. The rights of other fathers with gay sons was irrelevant.

His son comes out, Rob consults with the clergy, brushes up on some biblical reading and discovers that he had interpreted the Bible wrong...except for the Golden Rule part.

But yes, it's good he saw the light.

You can add the Clintons to the list of hypocrites. Last week, Bill Clinton voiced support for overturning the DOMA (which he signed into law) and Hillay is now supporting gay marriage after opposing it in 2008 (her, Obama and McCain all expressed support of civil unions and entitlement to legal protection enjoyed by the married population.)

Methinks it has far less to do with the fact that people were "fools" in the first place and have now come around as it has to do with the party from which the person making the change of mind hails from. Hence the Donks calling out GOP'ers as fools and the same Donks either remaining silent or casting praise on Dems who do the same. I'm sure if the shoe was on the other foot the conks would be doing the same. Partisans may be from different parties, but they're not very different.

You guys have it totally backwards in terms of who the fools are.
Well, I believe that I must tell the truth
And say things as they really are
But if I told the truth and nothing but the truth
Could I ever be a star?

Being wrong about a topic is called post partisanism - kalm

MAQA - putting the Q into qrazy qanon qult qonspiracy theories since 2015.

It will probably be difficult for MAQA yahoos to overcome the Qult programming but they should give being rational & reasonable a try.

In other news, Janet Reno has bought a new penthouse in New York. 8-)
