Plus, from what I have read, sounds like it was a drug deal gone bad.

This would be the difference between a hate crime and a "non-hate" crime that everyone seems to have a hard-time either wanting to understand or are too stubborn to understand.

England's father was murdered - yes, a crime. But from everything thing I have read (details still sketchy), race, etc was not a factor - an "ordinary crime" if you will.

England projected this crime onto ALL blacks - and randomly targeted blacks simply because of skin color - murder, plus a hate crime.

What you dont get is that crime is crime, until your media injects race into it. I love how people just accept black on black crime because now its normal (see interview last night on CBS with the black guy that was not scared when a black man kills somebody but is crazy scared when a white guy "Tulsa-d" the neighborhood.) and they always look the other way when a black guy kills a white person/family.

But man when the white guy kills a black guy its hands across America and Hitler could win an election against the white guy that committed the crime.

Crime is crime
Murder is murder

Adding anything to justify the poor behavior is racism at its core.

Back in 2010, Carl England had responded to his daughter's call for help and with her boyfriend tracked down the man who tried to break in. A fight broke out, and the man took out a gun and fired at England.

The man who pulled the trigger, Pernell Jefferson, was not charged with homicide because an investigation determined he acted in self-defense.

Jefferson was charged with attempted burglary and a weapons violation and had his probation revoked in an unrelated weapons case for which he is serving a six-year sentence. He is scheduled to be tried in May on the burglary charge.

According to an affidavit, Jefferson tried to kick in the door of the apartment England's daughter shared with her boyfriend after the boyfriend hit him with a baseball bat during an earlier confrontation at the couple's home.

When Carl England and the boyfriend found Jefferson, Jefferson came at England, who hit Jefferson with a stick. Jefferson fell to the ground, pulled out a handgun and fatally shot the elder England.

Jefferson fled but was arrested after seeking treatment for his injuries at a hospital.

Doesn't justify what the kid did, just posting the story on the fathers death.

Thanks - this is a little different from earlier stories. Jefferson is in jail. Would be interesting to know what the earlier confrontation was about - maybe that is where the drug angle came from.

I don't agree with self-defense for Jefferson, since he is the one that broke into the apartment.

The Jesse and Al Show could do real well by this event if they play it right.

If I were Jesse or Al I would put some jujitsu on them - start by calling on the black community to relate to the perps story and try to empathize - point how many black families understand exactly how he must feel over his father's death.....
