I have never been so cold in my life. 19 degrees with the wind blowing about 40 miles an hour. One of Harvard's TDs was scored following a Yale punt from their end zone that went about 10 yards. It was sunny, though.

The day before had been about 50 and beautiful for the freshman game.
IIRC, Harvard's hoss RB that year was from Montana. So I guess the cold didn't bother him!
That was Kelly Ryan's senior year. Great QB. Probably behind only Dowling among the Yale QB's in my years watching football. Had Yale driving in the last couple of minutes when Yale's RB Troy Jenkins fumbled after gaining a bunch of yards on a screen pass around the Harvard 25 or 30 yard line.

No complaint. His hands must have been frozen and Harvard really was the better team that year. Yale was really a one man show and pulled out last minute wins over Penn, UConn, and Holy Cross all because of Ryan.

Frank Ryan's son, right?

No relation as far as I know. Frank was Yale's AD for several years and was NOT well liked by the coaches. Took the job when Cozza decided he would rather stay coaching than become the AD.

That was in '76 and Yale's run of great teams ended 5 years later. I always wonder if Carm made a mistake by not taking the AD job and working with admissions in a more positive way than Ryan (apparently) did.

Well, bulldog, good luck to the Eli tomorrow. I'll be watching on Versus, with Harvard pennant and hot toddy in hand! ;)

Harvard wins, 45-7, after trailing early. Over 500 yards total offense for the Crimson, who had 4 takeaways to Yale's 1.
