I see problems with that. I'm old school, so I don't like the idea of handing the reins to a rookie. Ideally, I like about a three-to-four year apprenticeship under the old master before throwing a kid to the wolves, so to speak. There are very few people who can survive that as Troy Aikman did. (Many don't remember the beating he took his rookie year, just his Super Bowls.)

To be fair to Dungy, however, he later modified his remarks by saying that LUCK becomes the trade bait if Manning looks as if he'll play another three to four years. Unfortunately, that's the perfect scenario for old school guys like me.

That said, if the Dolts fail to address their OL and defensive woes, Luck could very well force their hand by following the example set by fellow Stanford alum John Elway. :ohno:

As stated before Manning started as a rookie and went on to establish the gold standard for passing yards for a rookie QB that maybe taken out by Cam Newton this season.

Andrew Luck is a risk. Read this:
San Francisco 49ers defensive tackle Ricky Jean Francois(notes) plays for former Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh and was a college teammate of the No. 1 pick in the 2007 NFL draft, JaMarcus Russell(notes), so he has plenty of opinions about current Stanford star, and projected top-draft pick, Andrew Luck. And -- surprise, surprise -- the SEC product thinks the Pac-12 QB is overrated because of a lack of good competition.
I think Ricky makes a very good point.
Ricky isn't the only one that is skeptical of Luck you can add ex-NYG QB Phil Simms to this short list as well.He feels that he lacks arm strength to play at the next level.

Even if he sits as the #1 pick in the draft, it's not as bad as in previous years. Now that there is a rookie salary cap, Indy would not have as much of its salary cap sitting on the bench as a few years ago if a #1 QB was sitting.

This gives QBs more time to sit if there is a good QB in front of them.

Hmmm...Colts between a rock & a hard place. They owe Manning $28M when? I thought I heard in January. You can't trade him before then so you'd have to outright cut him & basically get squat for him. I think Peyton will be back in Indy if that's the case.

Phil Simms is a weenie wagger and a wimp without eyebrows, I don't know who would give a shit about what he thinks or comes out of his gay mouth. Other than that, I guess he's ok.

How about the fact that he had a son(Chris) go through the exact same thing and he has a SB ring in his possession.

How about this
Luck has the same agent as Eli Manning
He may pull an Eli and say I will not play in Indy
so then they could trade him for a whole boatload of picks and player combinations

How is this possible (right now)? If Luck had an agent, he'd be thrown out on his keister and Stanford would have to forfeit all their games.

And since when did Eli say he wouldn't play in Indy? That was John Elway. Eli refused to play in San Diego.
