If people who live in Texas can bitch about having to watch a game in December or January in 40 or 50 degree temps, fans from the East can bitch about the flight.

It's not the flight so much as putting the game so far way from the good teams that will actually be playing there. They should just do a four-year rotation between the CAA, SoCon, BigSky and MVFC. :winky:

Something like

2012: Appalachian State
2013 :Montana
2014: Northern Iowa
2015: Delaware
2016: Georgia Souther
2017: Montana State
2018: North Dakota State
2019: William and Mary

etc...

I'd limit it to venues with 15K+ seating (which axes W&M).

This is a fantasy, of course, as the NCAA only cares about the sponsorship (corporate and civic) package, and a rotation wouldn't meet any of their goal$.

After the stadiums I listed I started having trouble with stadiums for every conference except the MVFC, but I don't know the other stadiums well.
For the MVFC we could use:
Illinois State Hancock Stadium 15,000
Missouri State Plaster Sports Complex 16,300
North Dakota State Fargodome 19,500
Northern Iowa UNI-Dome 17,000
South Dakota State Coughlin–Alumni Stadium 15,000
Southern Illinois Saluki Stadium 15,276
Western Illinois Hanson Field 16,368
Youngstown State Stambaugh Stadium 20,630

However, from what I hear Illinois State is pretty dumpy. No one wants to go to Brookings, Carbondale, or Macomb.

Fargo isn't a great place to head in January.

The UNIDome needs some upgrades in seating and scoreboards before anything could really be done.

Plaster Sports Complex seems nice from what I've saw.

Youngstown just sucks as a town.

I'd say the "best" location would be in the Louisville/St. Louis/Memphis area.

I go to games in that weather. I didn't ever say I didn't....just not freeze my ass off cold. But, that forum could also be left open to this interpretation.

The coldest game I was ever at was Thanksgiving 1970. I was in Colorguard and we had short uniforms. We were not allowed to wear pantyhose, or anything else, on our legs. It was 19 degrees with a sustained wind and sleet off and on during the whole game. Hell, our flags froze. Do I ever want to endure that again? Not on your life.
The coldest game I've been to in TX was the semi-final vs. UNI on Dec 9, 2005. It had been in the 50's all week...until then. It was 45 @ kick-off and dropped to 28 with sustained winds of 11 mph (with gusts). It cut through me and I don't want to go through that again, either. I was fine @ 45 but when it dropped below 40 it started to get to me...sometime in the 3rd quarter.
I'd love to go to a NC game. I don't care if my team is in it or not. I want to meet some of the people on here. I do not have the funds to be able to do so.
I am also all of 116 lbs with minimal body fat. I'm over 50 and, yes, I don't do that kind of cold anymore.

I do like the rotation idea...

I gotta recant on that. Corey's gotta be wrong. There's no way they make EWU play at 9am, so they'll get the Friday night game. We'll be playing Saturday.

I could see ECB cried here, but there's just no good way to fit a pacific time zone team into a Fri 8pm EST/Sat Noon EST scenario.

It will make more sense to have a noon start on Saturday in Delaware than a 9:00 am start in Cheney.

I'd fly up for the game but I start my new job on Friday the 17th, and I've seen enough of Villanova/Sczur to last me a lifetime. :ohno: :ohno: :ohno: :ohno:

When did we get hidebound to a noon kick? Traditional football start time is ONE, though I've seen 10 AM PT kickoffs (equiv to 1 on the Wrong Coast). What's the big deal?

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

I think it's a cool idea and it would be great to see NC games in those different venues...as a fan of course. As you say thogh it wouldn't be to the NCAA's liking as you would have to come up with a revenue package that would equal what they are getting currently.

It would have to be done by putting together communities/businesses from all those that would be hosting but it could be done conceivably.
