I know what Im about to say has nothing to do with North Dakota, and Im probably gonna get slamed for it, but how about......

The North Dakota Rampage, and have a rampaging Rhino as your logo and mascot

let the lashing out begin

other names I like

Cavalry
Timber Wolves
Rangers
Mammoths
Stags
And hey why not, Cowboys

how about just Stag or Mammoth or even Fighting Farmers. that way u can keep the 'fighting' part.

I really don't care what they go forward with in the name department (though I would prefer something regionally tied...no more Warhawks or Redhawks...), just as long as they don't use the Notre Dame logo as their main logo...

That will likely be the one that gets used the most over the next several years, until a new nickname is adopted. They did make some very slight variations to it a few years ago, to differentiate it a bit from Notre Dame's.

Little known fact: North Dakota actually used the interlocking ND before Notre Dame did. North Dakota owns the trademark while Notre Dame has the copyright. Obviously though, most everyone outside of North Dakot associates it with the Irish.

Anyways, even if the Sioux name were staying, you'd have gotten a heavy dose of the ND logo, as that has always been the predominant one of use for the football program. They rarely used or wore anything with the Indian logo on it.

I hereby recommend the following name for consideration.

"The North Dakota Submissive Invertebrates"

As you guys have no backbone by buckling under to the NCAA political correctness police, and the fact the William and Mary already took the name of "Gay Griffins" last year when they chose not to fight the same PC battle.

When it comes to a logo as popular as the interlocking ND I really couldn't care less who came up with it first because its been so obviously co-opted by such a popular entity for so long. I know there is some slight differences with the logo, but its still generally the same.

I'd probably care a lot less if I didn't ****ing hate Notre Dame so damn much, but every time I see that logo I just get angry. Has there even been a list of names that are possible to replace Fighting Sioux considering this is the last academic year that name will be used?

I just hate that one of the best logos and names in collegiate sports is being lost out of all of this. The logo is so similar to the Chicago Blackhawks' logo (one of the best for any team in any league IMO), but its still distinct enough that it is North Dakota's (unlike the ND).

Sure, there is some of that, but I would be willing to argue that the majority of the knuckleheads on this board are from North Dakota, the whole state.

However, no doubt, the t-shirts link shown on the Bison site are out of line by today's standards... although, they look a bit dated.

You know this isn't too crazy of an idea. There did used to be a North American rhino. Teleoceras.
