This is a silly question - heck, neither of these teams would even make my top 3 of I-AA/FCS all-time teams. Heck, neither would even be the best I-AA/FCS team in either's school history.

I'd hate to say it. He was not even close. I was in the stands right at the first down marker. He dove but was out of bounds at least 3 yards before the marker.T-Dog wrote:I will swear for the rest of my life that Edwards got the first down.blueballs wrote: came down to a clutch Quentin Taylor play on Edwards stopping him inches short of a first down in GSU territory on a fourth down with about a minute left.
I have to say I like the '06 ASU team better than '07. Still had a helluva d-line in '06.

I agree 100%. In fact, the 2000 GSU team isn't even in the top 3 all time GSU teams IMO.GannonFan wrote:This is a silly question - heck, neither of these teams would even make my top 3 of I-AA/FCS all-time teams. Heck, neither would even be the best I-AA/FCS team in either's school history.

If I had to rank them I would go: 1)1989 (15-0-0), 2) 1986 (Ham's SR year offensive juggarnaut), 3) 1999 (avg 50 ppg over 15 games and broke just about every playoff record there was), 4) 1998 (I know they didn't win the title but they were 14-1 and put up eye popping numbers), 5) 1985, 6) 2000

Yup, I agree, although I might be inclined to think the '86 team was the best, but you obviously saw them more than I did. Those teams in the '80s were scary good - the later teams were obviously pretty good too, but I thought there was a feeling that at least those later teams were beatable - I didn't get the same feeling with the teams in the '80's from GSU.blueballs wrote:I agree 100%. Appie's 2007 team was better than GSU's 2000 team, but they weren't better than GSU was in 1999. And I know App. State folks will talk about how they weren't all that impressed with GSU in '99, but GSU could say the same of the 2006 and 2007 App. State teams.
And I don't know where in the world klean gets that the 2000 team was better than the '99 team when they had a better OL, Greg Hill, Bennie Cunningham, Dedric Parham, Cherard Freeman, Von Allen, Kiwake, Earthwind, and Archee (the latter three were all drafted into the NFL IIRC).

All I know is we were SO close to winning it all in 2000, that I want to cry thinking about it. On the other hand, GSU blew YSU the f#ck up in 1999.... so, that's gotta be saying something about what team was better than the other.

The 2000 GSU team was good but if Montana shows up for the whole game and not just the 2nd half we would have won that Championship game.

By the way, so was that OT struggle in 2006, like, GSU's worst team ever against App. State's best team ever?
