BTW, Obama cannot be characterized as a communist, since he really hasn't revealed any form of visionary foundation for his policies, nor any specifics that could be described as imposing a homogenization of class and equitable distribution of wealth. Merely pitching "a chicken in every pot" and "can't we all just get along" hardly defines the man (as anything other than a "classic" expitious Donk running for office). Nice guy, but still too young.

You must have missed this one,S2433 The Global Poverty Act. Redistribution tax.

WASHINGTON, February 13, 2008 -- Accuracy in Media editor Cliff Kincaid disclosed today that a hugely expensive bill called the "Global Poverty Act," sponsored by Democratic Senator Barack Obama, was quickly passed by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Wednesday and could result in the imposition of a global tax on the United States. Kincaid said that the major media's cover-up of the bill, which makes levels of U.S. foreign aid spending subservient to the dictates of the United Nations, demonstrates the media's desire to see Senator Obama elected to the presidency.

The legislation would commit the U.S. to spending 0.7 percent of gross national product on foreign aid, which amounts to a phenomenal 13-year total of $845 billion over and above what the U.S. already spends.

"Humorless" AND "PIOUS"
Hey, you're the religious guy, not me.
Good Morning, Humorless. Today's English lesson will be about understanding "context". Many words have more than one meaning. For example, the work "Pious" has three or more, with seemingly contradictory meanings.

Pious - adjective
1. having or showing a dutiful spirit of reverence for God or an earnest wish to fulfill religious obligations.
2. characterized by a hypocritical concern with virtue or religious devotion; sanctimonious.
3. practiced or used in the name of real or pretended religious motives, or for some ostensibly good object; falsely earnest or sincere: a pious deception.
4. of or pertaining to religious devotion; sacred rather than secular: pious literature.
5. having or showing appropriate respect or regard for parents or others.

Clearly, the last definition could not be the correct usage, in any sentence pertaining to yourself.

Since Religion and/or God was not the topic of discussion, unless you mistakenly thought I had confused you with God (a possibility considering your ethereal levels of self esteem), definitions, one, three, and four are eliminated.

Which leaves definition two as the sole "plausible" meaning (Absent the "...or religious devotion". See Above.). In a connotative sense, the word Pious can often evoke a double entendre purpose, implying the person (you) through their hypocrisy and/or sanctimonious conduct creates themself as a pseudo-diety, further empasizing the hypocrisy of their conduct.

That will conclude today's lesson in understanding context. Please do your homework tonight and be prepared to participate in tomorrow's board discussion: "CitDog; A Lifelong Reconciliation - "My Rejection To The Naval Adademy".

BTW, as an informal observation, a sign of maturity is knowing when to keep quiet, what battles are worth fighting, and not buying into the "schoolyard" belief that the person with the "last word" becomes the victor. This is particularly prudent when your weaknesses have become "your own worst enemy".

(Hang in there Coastal...you opened up a great facet of this debate...having to do as much or more with the Democrat's and U.N.'s agenda as Obama. I don't want to short-change this topic as it is very near and dear to my political activism. I'll lay it all out...the "Global Poverty Act" was nothing more than a "Plan C" that has little chance of passing. I promise it'll be worth the wait.)

The hypocrisy here is overwhelming, as you keep answering my "last words" with longer & longer & longer responses.

Yeah, I suppose so...

A more contemporary smear would be, posting photos of him in unusual dress or action with labels implying incompetence or corrupt virtue...

...like such as, "coke-head partier"...

Image

...or, like such as spokesperson for a mob/party boss...

Image

...or, like such as an entertainer...

Image

...or, like such as simply, a male chauvinist horn-dog who objectifies women...

Image

...just a joke, Col. I think Obama is 'better' than MOST of the self-serving folks on the Hill, and even voted for him in the Primary...but will be voting for McCain in the Gen. Election. If you REALLY want to witness an offensive case of smear, tune into The Letterman Show. They basically do a "Ten Bashes Against McCain" every night. I watched a couple of them, and have chosen to turn Letterman for the remainder of this year.

(BTW, I'm drafting out the info on the Global Poverty Act, but will probably have to break it up in 3 or 4 presentations...there's been tons of new information published on this since Bali, which in effect codified and "published" the U.N.'s agenda, and moreso, several key actions took place during the first two weeks of February that illuminate the timing of the Senate vote. And now, with the reversal of the science on GW, several key Govt. players are beginning to hedge their bets, which is further complicating the "scheme".)

Obama's placement as "Sponsor" is merely that; "Product Placement" by his "distributor" to improve his marketability (he's gotta at least appear to have "Global' foreign policy...other than increasing the number of daily flights from Dulles to the Virgin Islands...). Have a good day, Col.
I read the entire list of sponsors...I went to Thomas.gov and read the levislation...

Is it a Dem/Lib proposal...absolutely...I think I said it wasn't a great idea...

But the "agenda" comment comes from the consistant charge of COMMUNIST...

It's not....

I wish if you wish to challenge Obama, do it honestly...on ideas...not with red-herring charges of COMMUNISM...that's so 50's...
But why do that when it's so much easier to post some random wacko conspiracy theory blog?

And, BTW, is there a record on this site for largest quote nest? 'Cause I think we might be setting it! :D

I can only stay up late on weekends...so Letterman is pretty foreign to me these days (I know, youtube has his stuff....I don't take the time...  )

I'll wager, between just you and me, say a nice (not excellent) bottle of winners choice that this "legislation" never even makes it to a final vote...it reads like election year "fluff"

Agreed. Like I said, this was a political stunt for Obama's benefit. I read the analysis of HR 1302 and it's more ambiguous than a gold digger on her honeymoon.

...won't go anywhere...but the bet's still on. I won't mind losing. Hell, I'll even pay up before the bill dies...
