I am a boomer and regrettably have to agree. The greatest generation had one major flaw, they failed to teach their values to their children. Then the next generation got worse and it continues to go downhill.mainejeff wrote:Boomers have sucked the life out of this country. I don't see enough of MSNBC, but I would say CNN and Fox are the same, just diametrically opposed. And CNN was late to the game, any objectivity they had went out on Election night in 2016. I'm not sure Fox has ever been objective.

CNN, MSNBC, Fox all support an agenda and air programming that supports it. None of it is "fair and balanced"

MSNBC has become the liberal version of Fox. CNN (US) tries to play off like they're neutral, but they're liberal and not fooling anyone. Of the TV networks, PBS/CSPAN/BBC are the most neutral.GannonFan wrote:I don't see enough of MSNBC, but I would say CNN and Fox are the same, just diametrically opposed. ABC used to be my center of the road network, especially back in the days of the news anchor and with Peter Jennings. Once he died that model really went away (Dan Rather was never at that level for CBS and he went off the deep end and NBC rode Tom Brokaw into irrelevancy). ABC isn't terrible today, actually far better than CBS or NBC, but they're kinda boring and bland. At least PBS, although boring, has substance. Obviously the BBC is good - they have British accents so they're really smart.

Even PBS has a slight lean to the left, but they're pretty good about being honest and giving equal time to all sides. What I like about PBS is that it's localized. I like the local commentary and segments like Walter Edgar's journal ( a SC historian).GannonFan wrote:ABC used to be my center of the road network, especially back in the days of the news anchor and with Peter Jennings. BBC is a favorite as is Reuters. I like the accents and how everything starts " This is the BBC."

Re: Miscellaneous news items that don't warrant their own thread
They all have a slant (and some are in the process of sticking their heads up their ass). I like BBC as they do not seem to fall into the same biases as the U.S. based ones do (their slant is more pro EU that I have seen) and Reuters. PBS has slipped more then slightly left in their national show's over the years. They are just more polite about it, but it is still there. I rarely watch anything though, much prefer to read an article about it. Helps filter out the irrelevant details that seem to be in the on air stuff just to use up time.

I would say MSNBC & Fox are diametrically opposed, with CNN somewhere juuuust to the right of MSNBC and ABC, CBS, & NBC just to the right of CNN, but all still well left of center.GannonFan wrote:I don't see enough of MSNBC, but I would say CNN and Fox are the same, just diametrically opposed. I do not like national news, period. I watch local news and Maryland Farm and Harvest Report.
I can't stand the new ABC news format. Big stretch with no commercials, then 30 seconds of news sandwiched between 4 minutes of commercials at the end... when the have the stories you actually want to see.

Good luck to Trump trying to argue with him about mortality estimates.Ricardo Rosselló was not supposed to be in politics. He was a mathlete and a tennis player and loved problem solving, a combination of interests and innate talent that helped him earn a spot at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. There he studied bioengineering and neuroscience (and was captain of the varsity tennis team), going on to earn a doctorate in biomedical engineering from the University of Michigan and completed postgraduate work in stem cell research at Duke University. He then cofounded a company called Beijing Prosperous Biopharm that developed drugs to fight cancer, neurodegeneration problems, diabetes, and HIV.
