Are you proposing that no one commutes 5-10 miles to work? Is that why there is no traffic?

Or are you saying that 100,000 people who voted for a Socialist are the wealthy folks that, according to HalfWit, are the only people that can afford to live in Seattle proper?

Seattle is going to start having more problems. The recent vote regarding city council districts is going to result in some interesting politics. Neither of us has any idea how many of the 100k that voted for her were unionized Boeing employees. You based your whole cognitive dissonance rant on nothing but conjecture and  smilies.

Ahhhh...HalfWit has a moment of clarity. :thumb:

Then Halfwit suddenly realizes that he spent his time trying and failing, with no real information or reason, to look smarter than another poster who simply posted the absurd reality that Seattle is celebrating the election of a Socialist to a soon to be divided and conquered city council position while the smarter Capitalists are again winning the war.

You revert to name calling..?
Not an impressive debate tactic unless you're 12 yrs old

Sad and desperate Cluckster

Face it - things are going to be just fine in Seattle
Regardless of Boeing and its battles
Regardless of one Socialist City Council person
Regardless of one openly flaming (and Joyful) Mayor who happens to be awesome

Somehow Seattle will make it through all the terrible Liberal Pitfalls that you so desperately claim will be the death of us all

It will probably be difficult for MAQA yahoos to overcome the Qult programming but they should give being rational & reasonable a try.

Philly isn't a cesspool, it's just different than Seattle. Philly is more hard edged and working class while Seattle acts a little more refined. Both cities have a different flavor/character but I like them both.

Somebody as open-minded as you Chizzy should appreciate Philly for what it is not put it down for what it isn't.

Come on buddy. Our slack? The North Charleston plant was built from the ground up with an inexperienced workforce. The plant here is doing great and is proving that the job can be done without the unions. Mistakes happen but while you guys are bitching about pay, we're earning ours. Boeing has been making more and more investments here, we're building the 737MAX engine, home of an IT center, we're building a paint shop so that planes don't need to be flown to Texas for painting, The employees here don't hijack a company and demand pay raises and such just because they can. The unions are losing and eventually Boeing will pull out of Washington altogether.
 Glad you picked up on that little jab.

I don't take what the Mechanics up here in Everett have to say about Charleston not meeting their commitments too seriously. Boeing knew exactly what they were doing when it came to creating a brand new workforce in SC.

As for Boeing pulling out of Washington, I doubt that, but they will bust that union down to nothing by pulling the same trick over and over - we will move if we don't get some concessions. This was the first shot. By the way, you should have read all the comments on the local paper's website telling all the Boeing employees how lucky they were to have a job and a great paying one as well.

Every city has something of a hard edged and working class element. Some cities just have more of it than others and comparing Seattle to Philly is like deciding who is more of a biker - a guy who rides a Goldwing on weekends or a Hells Angel.

There is a tech school here actually it's larger than Clemson University, and they begun training people for the jobs that Boeing would bring, years before the ink was dried on the initial contracts. My cousin went through some intense training before SHE was allowed to work on the planes.

Building airplanes is highly skilled work, I'll fly Airbus for a few years until Boeing gets it together workforce-wise. :coffee:

It was raining harder during the Colts-Pats game, which makes sense given that Boston receives more annual precip than Seattle. :coffee: :ugeek:

Seattle's problem isn't the AMOUNT of rain it gets....it's the average of only 58 sunny days per year that causes all the suicides. :coffee: :coffee:
