At least you're trying. You'll get a participation ribbon. Improve your spelling and you could even see a bronze medal.

LeadBolt wrote:From an old article on Benghazi casting light on the situation. General Ham was responsible for the US military in Africa (less Egypt) until his sudden early retirement after contradicting the administration :

Questions remain, especially because Ham's account of the terror attack contradicts the accounts of both Panetta and Barack Obama.

Panetta is on record as claiming that the refusal to use force was the result of a three-party consultation between Gen. Dempsey, Ham, and himself. At a Pentagon press briefing, Panetta told reporters:
"(The) basic principle is that you don't deploy forces into harm's way without knowing what's going on; without having some real-time information about what's taking place. And as a result of not having that kind of information, the commander who was on the ground in that area, Gen. Ham, Gen. Dempsey and I felt very strongly that we could not put forces at risk in that situation." [Emphasis added.]
Ham simply said that he had forces ready and that no order was given, making no mention of a "consensus."

Also revealed is that the U.S. had drones and real-time visual/audio communication during the attacks. Commanders could watch the entire tragedy unfold.
The drone footage of the events in Benghazi has been classified by the Obama administration, which summarily declared the content "Top Secret."

But these facts reveal an inconsistency in Panetta's narrative, which has led some critics to question Panetta's entire account of the events in Benghazi. According to Congressman Jason Chaffetz -- who traveled with Ham and asked a number of pertinent questions related to Benghazi -- forces were available and "had proximity," but no order was given to use them. Chaffetz sits on several Homeland Security subcommittees.

Other reports say Special Forces members in Italy were told to wait, or got no orders at all.

Good thing General Ham retired. With these cartoonish ideas in his head he was clearly spending all his time playing xbox and reading Tom Clancy novels. :coffee:

You confuse me with Harold Brown and Zbigniew Brzezniski who advised on the rescue attempt of the hostages in an attempt to re-elect Carter, which like the half assed mission they promoted failed, not unlike your rhetoric in this thread, #8.

Actually, it looks like you have confused yourself with SDHornet. :coffee:

And, yes, half-assed missions are what you get when you don't have proper planning and practice. Thank you for making the point. :kisswink:

Apparently you missed the part in the article about having realtime surveillance via drone, giving the US forces the advantage in intelligence, something the administration and their supporters lack... :coffee:

Giving you maybe an extra few hours to plan something. Yeah, nothing to it....

You would have lead the bleating and whimpering about our socialist prez wasting the lives of our brave troops on suicide missions if one of those missing SAMs had taken out a C-130 full of commandos or if they'd walked into a waiting ambush ala Somalia or suffered equipment failure ala Desert One. In the real world things go wrong, LB.:coffee:

Uh...RAPID means something entirely different to the government than it does to you and me, popeye. If it so rapid why did it take six months to plan and execute the Osama operation? I guess they didn't brief you when you were the CO of the mess-kit repair battalion. :coffee:

It took six months because of Obama and Valerie Jarrett's persistent dragging of their feet delaying action. In the end it took a virtual mutiny by Panetta, the Joint Chiefs and Clinton to get the Osama attack executed, down to sending the Secret Service out to drag Obama back to the White House situation room to watch. Watching is what he does best, acting not so much.

"According to a White House insider, President Obama didn't order the attack that resulted in a bin Laden death. Leon Panetta, former head of the CIA, overruled Obama's "persistent hesitation to act."

In an interview linked on socyberty.com, an unnamed insider quotes discussions with Leon Panetta and other members of the military and intelligence leadership."

Greasy actually did well in the military. Studied under some of the leading Latrine Buffer scientists the American military could afford. Here's a couple of em: Dr. Fritz Skidmark and Dr. F. Artman - both finalist for the Nobel and the Mr. Whipple awards for their groundbreaking research on spit-buffing toilet seats.
