You're talking shit about the Coastal fans but you're a UD fan. It's comical.

Re: Coastal Carolina to move to the Sun Belt
For right now, I think the plan is up to 25K. We'll see after that. Coastal has some serious work to do to fill the stadium. A lot of people travel to Cola/Clemson to watch FBS. If we can get some good teams to come to Conway, then we might have a good chance at invigorating the community and alumni base. Competing with Clemson and USC isn't easy.BDKJMU wrote:Might need to go bigger to be able to host a P5 every other year. That is one of the biggest reasons for moving up after all. Playing all your P5 games on the road can stay in I-AA to do that. I know ODU is at about 20k and will host a couple P5 before they are expanded to 35k. But they are in a hotbed recruiting market...Ibanez wrote: Early estimates are 21-25K.

Technically, yes, but FCS teams get on average $400 -$500K, while G5 teams now routinely get over $1M to go play at a P5 (minus Vandy, Duke, etc.)BDKJMU wrote:Might need to go bigger to be able to host a P5 every other year. On the other hand, it was just released today that lowlife Sun Belt Texas State just got a 2 for 1 deal with top 10 P5 Baylor. And yes, TXST has a 30,000 capacity stadium.
Re: Coastal Carolina to move to the Sun Belt
Brooks Stadium will undergo construction to expand the stadium to 20,000 seats; the NCAA requires FBS programs to maintain an average attendance of at least 15,000 over a rolling two-year cycle. The addition will complete a lower level seating bowl between the home, visitors and student sections, as well as adding a second level to the section backing up to S.C. 544.

I was just talking with my boss about CCU (both his kids finished there) and were trying to figure out where you're going to add parking. I told him you could always dig up and relocate all the bodies in the cemetery across 544 to free up some space.Ibanez wrote:Brooks Stadium will undergo construction to expand the stadium to 20,000 seats; the NCAA requires FBS programs to maintain an average attendance of at least 15,000 over a rolling two-year cycle. Haha. We've been making that joke since I was a freshman. I think CCU just bought a bunch of land on 544, that allow expansion. Currently, parking is all over the campus and across 501 where all of our Marine Science labs are/were.ASUG8 wrote:I was just talking with my boss about CCU (both his kids finished there) and were trying to figure out where you're going to add parking. Before Coastal had football, Conway HS had it's stadium in the same place. It was called the Graveyard.
The next game is the most important game of the year!!
Re: Coastal Carolina to move to the Sun Belt
Yeah especially since most MB residents are transplants. Now that yall won't be a Big South foe...I'll be rooting for ya. I root for all SC FBS teams.Ibanez wrote:For right now, I think the plan is up to 25K. We'll see after that. Coastal has some serious work to do to fill the stadium. But filling 20K will be difficult. (NOT a knock on Citadel here...just on topic)- Citadel has 20K seats and Charleston has a far larger permanent population and it isn't filled. Coastal will have a tough time especially since the guests will be App and GA Southern and not say Tennessee or Texas.
I think yall MIGHT BE able to get some P5 teams like Wake and Vandy to come. Especially for opening kickoff...kids like a trip to the beach.
Also...maybe open that last weekend to non conference play and try to get a big school up North to come down and allow their players a thanksgiving weekend at the beach and warm weather. Be creative!
I fully expect Coastal can probably get East Carolina to start up a series. That would be a great out of conference series. Or Ohio University. Ohioans flood MB anyway. They'd travel.

7pm and you can buy beer 24/7 in Horry County. Basically the only county in the state that has its own liquor laws.Aho Old Guy wrote:The draw of Horry County ... are all the things other than football.

Re: Coastal Carolina to move to the Sun Belt
No way CCU can be as bad as GSU. Every conference has their own GSU, the Big XII has Kansas.
I think the biggest hurdle for CCU will be attendance. But scheduling and away fan travel can help. As others have said, App St and GS will bring a bunch of fans to Conway and probably sell those game out.
I'm not sure a stadium under 25,000 will get a P5 to visit but maybe your AD has strong connections.
Who would have thought 10 years ago that TXST would be playing FBS football in a conference with CCU, App St, and GS?

Re: Coastal Carolina to move to the Sun Belt
Attendance is our biggest problem, IMO. CCU travels well, but our community is apathetic. They would rather go to Clemson or USC than stay home and watch CCU play CSU or Liberty.

How has TXST fared since they moved up? I follow App State but the few TXST posters here either left or haven't said much on how their move up has been.slycat wrote:No way CCU can be as bad as GSU. Every conference has their own GSU, the Big XII has Kansas.
