Well kinda sorta. Certainly the CAA for years had the most really good teams, but the CAA never dominated the championship. On the other hand, we don't know if the MVFC would have dominated the championship without NDSU.89Hen wrote:The MVFC is the new CAA.OL FU wrote:The real problem right now with the exception of a few outliers, is it seems to be the MVFC and then every body else.

Oh, I guess The Citadel is Furman's rival again, now that Appy and GaSo are gone.OL FU wrote:I refuse to participate in a poll that lists Furman under the Citadel.

Kinda sorta? Illinois State last year was the first MVFC team to make even the semis other than NDSU since the Bizen have been on their streak. I think it's fair to say the MVFC would not dominate without NDSU. During the CAA heyday, they sent five different teams to the NC game with four of them winning it and only one NC game from 2003-10 didn't feature a CAA team.OL FU wrote:Well kinda sorta. Maybe you meant the MVFC hasn't reached CAA status yet.

And I would hope most NDSU fans don't really give two shits. Since, you know, they're NDSU fans.89Hen wrote:OL FU wrote:

UTC Qtrfinal game notes vs UNH showed them with 15 of 23 starters as non seniors, including that QB. Wasn't he the SOCON Offensive POTY? They got to be the run away pre season favorites.

You are right. But there were competitor conferences even then. It may have only been the last year maybe two but I don't see the competition like then. I hate phone typing89Hen wrote:Kinda sorta? You really have me confused with what you're saying. I think you're saying nobody is close to the MVFC right now... that would be correct. But no conference was really close to the CAA in the 2003-10 range. There was really only one team (AppSt) who gave the CAA fits and 2005 was the only poor performance by the CAA (only two teams in the field and both lost road quarterfinal games by 3 and 4 points).OL FU wrote:You are right. 2003: Delaware
2004: JMU
2005: AppSt
2006: AppSt (crushed their first three opponents before beating UMass in a tight game)
2007: AppSt (CAA was 0-3 vs AppSt and 5-2 against everyone else and 7 of the 9 games were on the road, NC neutral)
2008: Richmond
2009: Villanova
2010: Delaware (or EWU with a big asterisk)

Re: Who Wins the SoCon (2015)
I wish to change my pick. I chose Wofford and that was wrong. I should've chosen Chatty. I think they'll have it for a couple of years. It sure as hell won't be VMI (i'm quite thankful that they left the Big South.)
Though, it's odd, Western Carolina could be picking up the mantle of AppState. If last year was any indication, we are in for an interesting turn of events.

Turns out I might be a little gay. 89Hen 11/7/17
