He already played against the Griz and had 182 yards with 2 TDs. And again, it's Kupp.

Too bad Henderson and Kupp are not frosh would love to see them both battle to break Moss single season mark for td's.Eastern Washington has (2) more WR with good size Aaron Clark 6-4 200 another frosh and Kendrick Bourne 6-3 195 a soph if Kupp is as good as all of you claim he should be double teamed allowing these other two WR to get single coverage!!!

ASHTON Clark is a small, quick, possession type receiver and is second on the team in receptions. Shaquille Hill and Cory Mitchell are the 3 And 4, both around 6'1" and can fly.

Adams does a nice job spreading it around. Kupp was double teamed some yesterday and Shaq Hill benefits with 4 catches for 172 yards and 3 TD's. Kupp still hauls in 8 for 110 and a TD.

Bourne and Clark are both Freshman. Aaron Clark is RSing this year, Bourne is playing as a True Freshman and has a couple TD grabs.

Kupp is a RS Freshman.

As stated before can't wait to see this guy in the playoffs!!! Does EWU have a Run-N-Shoot type of offense or a spread offense.

Kupp was man against boys; you won't see a better pair of hands. Many of his 11 receptions were plucked from defenders in good coverage; he wins the battle seemingly every time.

Henderson is more of a sideline "Go" receiver and gets over the top frequently. In that game, he had 8 receptions for 147 yards and 3 TDs. Like Mariani, he is developing into a great kick returner. Very different players; both very young and so far pretty durable.

Single-back, 4 wide is usually the base formation, so basically a spread offense that is predicated on the threat of the vertical passing game. Spread out the defense with receivers to open up space for the RB.

Baldwin has admitted himself that he doesn't really have a name for it though. We run everything from 5-wide, to double-TE sets. Throw some read-option in there, and it's a difficult offense to prepare for.

EWU's offense is much more akin to the Dennis Erickson single-back spread offense than the Mouse Davis Run and Shoot or Mike Leach's Air Raid. Similar in that both largely use zone blocking schemes, and are heavy on shotgun formations with an off-set back. EWU spreads the field horizontally and then attacks vertically, but with a different philosophy behind it than either of those offenses, because Erickson wanted to spread the field to create a better matchup for his running back. Force the Defense to get into nickel coverages by creating mis-matches with WR's on LB's (see UM, MSU), then gash them with the running game. The twist in all of this is Vernon Adams, who can run the offense just as well as any of our previous QB's (and there have been some good ones at EWU), but his running ability adds another dimension and takes some of the best defensive schemes away from the opponent. That's what makes this offense different than in the past.
“Jokingly, I sometimes call it the ‘nation offense’, stealing a little bit from people around the nation,” said Baldwin, a Central Washington alum who is 52-21 during his time at EWU. “We still will get into 21 (two-tight end, one-back) and 13 personnel (a tight end, fullback, tailback and quarterback), then we’ll jump in to 10 personnel (single back) and empty. From a standpoint of describing it, my goal is to be balanced. We won’t be 50/50 and I know everyone thinks of it as pass- first. Our numbers show that. But I want to be able to threaten people with the running game and get into a number of different formations to get our playmakers out in space.”

Baldwin learned under Greg Olson as a quarterback at CWU. Olson, a disciple of former Montana State quarterback Dennis Erickson, went on to be the offensive coordinator for the Oakland Raiders. Baldwin, who backed up future NFL quarterback Jon Kitna during CWU’s 1995 NAIA national title run, took Olson and Erickson’s single-back philosophies and built an offense that has been one of the FCS’ most fearsome.

“It goes back to the one-back offense that I grew up in before the gun spread, the true one-back offense and that’s where it starts,” Baldwin said. “Dennis Erickson and Greg Olson, who was my quarterbacks coach and coordinator influenced me. We’ve build off of that. It’s hard for me to put a name on the offense, but I’m not really worried about putting a name on it. I just want to score points and keep teams off balance.”
