Sorry for being so late.

My home computer crashed right about the time I "disappeared" around here. I think I got hit by a spike. I'm reduced to the library until I get it back. Most of my time here is devoted to turning in homework, which leaves precious little time for my sports boards. My poll last week was jacked because I ran out of time; about eight spots were AL A&M because that's the default. Arrgh!!!

I'm impressed with Safron. SD was right, as always!

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

I had Magleby (Nevada transfer) pegged as our starter. Safron has been impressive so far and is continuing his improvement. Two 300+ yd passing games against FBS defenses and his lone INT was due to a WR dropping a pass right in his hands. I caught the replay of the Colorado game and I only saw a couple of bad passes. Safron is looking good. We need to keep this going though. This win is meaningless if we pull some no shows in the following weeks.

Emailed a coworker (CU grad) today to remind him that he lost his bet we made on the football game (I made him give me the points and the loser buys the winner a beer). His response:
"Apparently Sacramento State is a better member for the Pac-12 then Colorado."

Beating up on the big boys is becoming second nature for Sacramento State. Now for the hard part: dealing with it.

After knocking off Oregon State last season, the Hornets “weren’t used to that attention, and the kids started getting ahead of themselves a little bit,” head coach Marshall Sperbeck said Wednesday during the weekly Big Sky Conference coaches’ conference call.

The Hornets followed up with lopsided losses to Southern Utah (35-14) and Weber State (49-17) and finished with a 4-7 record.

But after a thrilling 30-28 win at Colorado last week, the Hornets get another chance. “I hope we can do a better job of handling our success than we did last year,” said Sperbeck, whose club hosts Northern Colorado on Saturday. “We know we have to get ourselves to prepare. You’ve got to get yourself refocused.”
