If there are people here who truly believe that they shouldn't "move up" unless they could get into a BCS conference...then pull up a lawn chair and get comfortable because you are going to be here for a LOOOONNNNNNGGGG while.
The wannabeness of FCS (like DSU) are routinely hating on the "haves" when it become obvious that thier status (going nowhere fast) is eternal. :ohno:
Speaking of delusional...

Will you be among the UD fans are sitting in their rocking chairs telling their grandchildren about the "greatness" of UD football, about that they were so dominant that the Big East was too afraid to give them an invite
MEAC, last one out turn off the lights.

So if UMass announces they're going to the MAC and they begin to transition next season, does that mean a victory against them wouldn't count as a conference win? UMass is ODU's first ever CAA home game, and I think it'd be funny if it ends up being ODU's first game against a MAC program instead, albeit a transitional one.

Any chance that would simultaneously count as a conference AND a FBS win?

^My guess is the conference would decide to count the UMass games, otherwise the two teams who don't play UMass next season (Villanova and ?) will have an extra conference game in the standings.

Under the proposed plan, UMass would not be a MAC team until 2013. We'd be CAA in 2011 (playoff ineligible) and independent in 2012.

Would you guys have more scholarships than 63 starting next season? That could be a big advantage when it gets deep into conference play...even though it won't really matter.

Good question. I don't know. If we did have extra scholarships though, they'd be mostly freshmen who would get redshirted, since there wouldn't be much to play for over the next two years.

You're probably right. Anyways, good luck to UMass in making the decision that's best for them! Hope you can make it down to Norfolk next year as it may be UMass' only meeting with ODU at the Oyster Bowl, or anywhere really...at least for a very long time.

Unless you stock up on extra juco guys. Of course, that might mean more during the independent year because they'd be gone by the time you were officially MAC if you did that in the lame-duck CAA year.

I'm curious about any transfers this year from any FBS schools...If they transfer b4 LOI day and we havn't announced the move to the MAC, or if we have announced the move, are they eligible to play in 2011? We won't be eligible for any playoffs or the CAA title in 2011 due to the Marshall rule, but it will be interesting to see how it plays out..Do we pick up a 12th game against an FBS foe for some cash and give the seniors an extra game because we can't play in the playoffs? Not that the playoffs are guaranteed-that's another thread with regards to our coaching staff and the talent that we have with regards to our record the last two years..
