How does Montana's Chase Reynolds get relegated to Honorable Mention?

I think he can thank his OC for this. IMHO Montana was a far more formidable opponent when they leveraged Chase's skills.

This season though, who does he get the nod over?

1st team:
RB - *#Taiwan Jones, Jr., Eastern Washington (1st in ypc, 1st in ypg, 3rd in TD's)
RB - Cory McCaffrey, Jr., Portland State (3rd in ypc, 2nd in ypg, 4th in TD's)

2nd team:
RB - Orenzo Davis, Jr., Montana State (3rd in ypc and 4th in ypg, 6th in TD's)
RB - Zach Bauman, Fr., Northern Arizona (8th in ypc, 5th in ypg, 1st in TD's)

Chase Reynolds (6th in ypc, 6th in ypg, 8th in TD's)

1. Taiwan Jones-EWU JR 10 176 1344 7.6 11 77 134.4
2. Cory McCaffrey-PSU JR 11 231 1287 5.6 10 48 117.0
3. Bryan Hilliard-SAC JR 9 195 883 4.5 12 70 98.1
4. Orenzo Davis-MSU JR 11 191 1062 5.6 9 40 96.5
5. Zach Bauman-NAU FR 11 237 1059 4.5 14 82 96.3
6. Chase Reynolds-UM SR 11 191 982 5.1 8 59 89.3

Tough to defend Selle's selection, he apparently did not play enough to be ranked in the top 10 in any stat on the Big Sky's stat page:

Thats a great point. With EWU being in the playoffs 5 out of the last 7 seasons inclusively, it wouldn't really be fair to lump MSU in the same company. :ohno:

You gotta understand something: We Griz fans aren't used to having to make excuses for why our team didn't make the playoffs. You are. We're still working on that, but we can learn from some of the experts on this board (EWU & MSU fans). :coffee: :coffee: :coffee:

Enjoy your conference title...it'll be your last one for a while. :coffee:

You do know we return almost everyone again next year, don't you? :coffee:

Why do EWU fans act like the red-headed stepchild all the time? They have proven it on the field, in the playoffs, and yet they have such a little man complex. It must be pretty upsetting to have one of the, if not thee best team in the country and still can't sell out your stadium. Then again MSU and UM fans don't have to put up with being an afterthought in our local sports markets though, so I guess I can't understand that frustration.

For some it's the little-train-that-could complex for sure, though mostly it's simply pride. But considering that your local sports market is the entire state of Montana....you too are an afterthought. :coffee:

Orenzo Davis. Reynolds was 6th. in rushing yards, but 4th. in total yards (moving ahead of Davis & Hilliard). He was the only back in the top 10 in receptions in the league & he led the Griz in catches. He also had 2 more total touchdowns than Davis.

Reynolds didn't get as many carries as in the past, but he was thrown to more. It was a dropoff from last year, but he still had 21 touches per game. I think inconsistent O-Line play is to blame more than playcalling for any Reynolds-related problems.

Chase got hosed by the OC. If they had taken advantage of him earlier in the season the Griz would still be in the playoffs. The first few games it was almost like they forgot that was registered at UM. If there was one thing wrong with the Griz was that they didn't adapt their offense to their personnel even with the scheme change. If they had mixed their power running with their passing attack the Griz would have been further along.

Chase was more significantly injured in the early part of the season than they were willing to let on. I believe Pflu began using him more extensively just as soon as he was able. :coffee: :twocents:
