Re: FCS in NFL
I'll try to further confuse the UMass debate. I read the question literally: "Who has been the best player to come from your school"....
The three in contention are - as noted - Greg Landry, Milt Morin and Marcel Shipp.
My pick for best while at UMass is Morin. He was a two way terror and a wrestling champ and a lax player and in his spare time he was the placekicker. And, yes, I have been around to see them all.
"One of the most versatile athletes ever to play for UMass, Morin lettered in football for three years from 1963-65. He was a three-time All-America selection, and set a then-school record of career receiving yards with 1,151. He also excelled at defense and was the team's placekicker during his senior year. He was part of two Yankee Conference championship teams under Vic Fusia, helping UMass compile and impressive 23-4-1 record during his three years, including a 14-1 YanCon mark, and a trip to the Tangerine Bowl. Morin was also the New England heavyweight wrestling champion in 1965, and played lacrosse for Dick Garber's stickmen. A first-round draft pick by the Cleveland Browns in the 1966 NFL Draft, he went on to play ten seasons for the Browns. He played in three Pro-Bowls (1966, 1968, 1969) and ranks eighth on Cleveland's all-time receiving yardage list with 4,208 career yards. He is also tied for eighth on the Brown's career receptions list with 271. Morin was inducted into the UMass Athletic Hall of Fame in 1970."

Re: FCS in NFL
Tough one. UCA has only been division I for a few short years and this year they are finally eligible for the playoffs. It's next to impossible for division II and NAIA kids to get picked for the draft, although there are some great ones from those ranks (Rice for example), most get overlooked unfairly.Who has been the best player to come from your school and make it in the NFL?
Saying that, I can only speak for the few that have had the opportunity to go to the next level:
Monte Coleman- Washington Redskins from 1979 to 1994.
Marquez Branson- Current Denver Broncos Tight End.
Jacob Ford- Current Tennessee Titans Defensive End.
Willie Davis- Kansas City Cheifs. Alright player.
Tyree Davis- WR- one year I thnk. Brother of Willie Davis.
On the CFL scene:
Tristan Jackson- Edmonton Eskimos return guy..ROY candidate.
Eric Ware- Edmonton Eskimos rookie.
On the Arena League scene:
A whole slew of Arena league guys from UCA..too many to mention.
But my biggest frustration is our past QB Nathan Brown not getting a chance in the NFL.
Having said that and answering the question, I would have to say up to this point that Monte Coleman is probably the most recognized and has had the best career so far with the Redskins.
