A recent theory is a meteor strike in Canada that flash melted much of the ice. The worldwide climate was affected including the Missoula mega floods and rain mark evidence from the sphinx in Egypt that suggested biblical type rains.

It’s just one theory and that was during the Younger Drias period which was full of climate and weather related anomalies compared with today.

Yes there was, I remember it. You likely don't or were too young to understand. It mostly about "nuclear winter" and it was speculation about stuff like how many volcanoes worth of ash and gasses a nuclear war would put into the atmosphere and what that would do to the climate and was never presented as settled science.
