Just stop digging!

Post by andy7171 »

I live in Baltimore, in a Navy Blue state. So my radio choices are reflected as such. One of my fav morning shows is the C4 show on 1090AM. C4 being the fourth in line of the Maryland famous lineage of Clarence Mitchell. He's a (D) state representative who was jaded by his time in Annapolis and has become a true Independent. Just my observation and his own. My views of left and right are skewed by where I live. I know plenty of people who hate Gov. Hogan and plenty who love him and more that just go "meh". He's a Maryland (R). Who in any red state would be a (D). Just being honest.
Anyway, they were talking about how Biden could turn shit around, before '22 elections. The gist was that they completely abandon COVID mandates and restrictions and declare victory over it. I found this very interesting. 1- everyone would go back to normal. 2- people would feel like it is back to normal. 3- maybe the supply chain BS goes away with whatever is holding up. 4- inflation could possibly slow down. The big problem is whether or not the (D)'s can just give that power back. Because that power of the masks and the mandates and the everything is heavy.
I have to admit. Were that to happen, I could easily see (d)'s not losing as much as they are poised to lose.
Anyway. Kalmy, look up 1090am C4 on your internet dial. He's my kind of (I).
"Elaine, you're from Baltimore, right?"
"Yes, well, Towson actually."

Covid itself has little to do with supply chain and inflation.

Covid policy should be based on medicine, not 2022 elections.

Certainly part of the problem with COVID policy is that it's always been impacted by politics, right from the get go. A lot of the initial stuff was impacted by the 2020 elections, and I see no evidence that we've moved away from that.

It would be refreshing if policy and research were based on medicine rather than politics.

Or 2020 elections. Or 2021 elections. Or 2023 elections.

Agreed but I’m not sure it would be any more popular or accepted. We have trouble laying off the fast food and getting enough exercise like doctors want us to.

Actually, I don't see Biden as being driven by polling data or calculations about the next election. For better or for worse. He seems to be willing to take hits in public opinion for at least the short term to do what he wants to do. When it comes to something like COVID-19 he does not appear to be licking his finger and sticking it in the air to see which way the wind is blowing. He appears to be trying to follow the advice of public health professionals.

I thought this thread was going to be about kalm defending CRT or JSO thinking Trump is bad.

He clearly has plenty of clue. What he's doing with respect to COVID-19 is following the science. That's what's going on. There is not, and never has been, anything to this idea that Biden is cognitively challenged right now. He could be at any time because he is at an advanced age. But so far there is no real evidence of it.

Same with the Climate Change issue. He is going with what the consensus of those in Climate Science is. He is actually governing in a way more "intelligent" way than Trump ever did.

Except for the Afghanistan thing. That one was bad. But it's also another illustration of the fact that he's not governing by sticking his finger in the air to check the wind direction. As a general matter, that's good. It's good even if the specific decision in that case is one I don't agree with.

OK John. Dismiss the border crisis, energy dependence, record inflation and that more people have died of Covid in 2021 than 2020, yet we hear Trump has blood on his hands for Covid deaths but not Biden. You've become unbearable to even have a discussion with.
