My wife made it home in good time, taking the long way home from the airport. Castille's sister calls Yanez a liar. From what I've read, it appears Yanez was coached well, by saying Castille was reaching for his gun, while his girlfiend claims Yanez requested his ID, and was shot reaching for his ID. I wasn't at the trial, so I don't know for sure either way.

Thousands of protesters gathered Friday night after a jury found a police officer not guilty in last year's fatal shooting of motorist Philando Castile.

Minnesota State Patrol said it arrested 18 protesters following demonstrations on Interstate 94 in St. Paul. They were arrested after they failed to comply with orders to disperse, the agency posted on Twitter.
St. Paul police estimated that 2,000 people marched peacefully through the streets, including a crowd gathered outside the Minnesota state Capitol. Speakers led chants, sang hymns and urged the protesters not to lose hope.
Some held signs that read "this hurts" and "Justice not served for Philando."

If youre carrying a gun you need to tell the officer up front

Usually he will then ask where your id is and you can tell him its in the same pocket

this was tragic but the victim didn't use any common sense at all

Yeah. I was thinking that he should have said "ok, but my ID is near my gun."

After hearing a few jury members that came forward. The State was not able to prove Manslaughter or either endangerment charge. Feds are looking at the case and the mother said she's going file in civil court. Another protest is scheduled for today at the St Anthony Police Station, who have already let Yanez go.

Yanez also has a case against the department for wrongful termination. They probably got him on policy violations not related to whether the shooting was justified. That's legitimate.

But then the police chief pulled a Trump and made stupid public statements saying the firing was due to the shooting itself

This is a BULLSHYT excuse that most of the cops who get into trouble will use. This is what is taught. This man was a LEGAL gun owner. Where is the NRA? But they talk a good game during election year or if you are white.

IMO, the cop was in over his head, and was unable to handle the situation.

If that had been me standing at the window, the guy advising me he had a gun would have immediately put me at ease. Yanez went hard in the other direction. He completely lost his mind

I don't see the manslaughter angle but Yanez never should have been in that job. Ill bet there were some warning signs that a supervisor ignored
