US Open
Let’s be brutally honest here: What EVERY golf fan is rooting for is for Dechambeau and Koepka to be 1/2 going into Saturday so they are forced to play together for 18 holes.
And if there’s a god, it’ll happen Sunday too.
And then if there’s REALLY a God, Phil comes from behind and wins his first.

Re: US Open
This isn't old school NASCAR. Why would we want to see a fight on the first hole?
I'd like to see Phil get it, too.
FYI, the US Open will be huge in determining who gets into the Olympics. The men's selection will be held the day after, and the women's selection a week after that. Everyone in the Top 15 of the Olympic Golf Ranking (pretty much the same as the Official World Golf Ranking for men and the Rolex Ranking for women) get in automatically, and the field will then be filled to 60 by following the Olympic Golf Ranking to include the top two from any country that doesn't have two in the Top 15. Japan, as host, will also be guaranteed two golfers in the field. There is also a limit of four golfers per country. That might be intended to blunt the force of USA, which would have about half the Top 15 for both men and women if all were allowed in. This is complicated somewhat by the fact that Adam Scott AUS, who would have been one of the top two from AUS, has withdrawn.
Because of the limit of four, if the rankings that were in place 08 JUN hold up, AZ would be denied his steel cage match between DeChambeau and Koepka in Japan because Koepka is the #6 American on the list (#8 overall). In for USA would be Justin Thomas (2), Collin Morikawa (4), DeChambeau (5), and Xander Schauffele (6); notables out for USA would be Patrick Cantlay (7), Koepka (8), Patrick Reed (9), Webb Simpson (12), and and Tony Finau (14). Notable non-Americans in this field if the 08 JUN rankings hold up would be Cameron Smith (28) and Marc Leishman (43) AUS, Corey Conners (36) and Mackenzie Hughes (67) CAN [Adam Hadwin (99) first out], Tyrrell Hatton (11) and Paul Casey (20) GBR, Rory McIlroy (10) and Shane Lowry (40) EIR, Hideki Matsuyama (15) and Rikuya Hoshino (77) JPN, Abraham Ancer (19) and Carlos Ortiz (51) MEX, Viktor Hovland (13) NOR, Louis Oosthuizen (18) and Christiaan Bezuidenhout (44) RSA, and Jon Rahm (3) and Sergio Garcia (49) ESP.
On the women's side, we can expect to see Brookie Henderson (5) and Alena Sharp (129) CAN; Jin Young Ko (1), Inbee Park (2), Sei Young Kim (3), and Hyo-Joo Kim (8) KOR; and Nelly Korda (4), Danielle Kang (6), Lexi Thompson (7), and Jessica Korda (13) USA [next in line: Ally Ewing (16), Jennifer Kupcho (17), Austin Ernst (24), Amy Olsen (29), and Megan Khang (38).]

Didn't they lose like 20 road games in a row? That has to be a record.

Re: US Open
Per CBS Sports, the Diamondbacks just lost their 21st straight (04 MAY to present), blowing a 7-0 lead in the process, but that only rates #3 on the list. Two more road losses will get them over the top, though, because the 1963 Mets (16 JUN to 28 JUL) and the 1943 A's (11 JUL to 28 AUG) are tied for the top with 22 straight road losses.
Interesting how the A's are in the Top 6 THREE TIMES. Also present are the 1969 A's (20 games 27 JUN to 08 AUG) and the 1945 A's (19 games 20 MAY to 3 JUL). Completing the Top 6 are the 1985 Pirates (19 games 23 JUL to 30 AUG).
Overall, this most recent debacle (which included Mike Yastrzemski's first career salami) extended Arizona's overall losing streak to a dozen. The immediate future doesn't look good for the team with the worst record in baseball (20-48, having lost 35 of the last 40): two more tilts with the Giants, and next weekend's road series at San Diego, which has been on an upswing of sorts recently.

And even more interesting that they're also on the other extreme list. 20 in 2002 and even had a 13 game one this year.SuperHornet wrote: ↑Wed Jun 16, 2021 10:26 am Interesting how the A's are in the Top 6 THREE TIMES. I have Koepka, Morikawa, Matsuyama, Rahm and Reed in my big pool.
I'm in another where 15 guys just put in $20 and they randomly drew one player in the top 15 ranks. I got Rory.

Was that supposed to be a swipe at the Cardinals, Jon? It looks like they're on something of a roll, out of last place and only four games out of first. In fact, they're only one game back from my resurgent Reds, and WAY in front of Pittsburgh....
