Started the way it should. Flyers double up the Pens 6-3 in the NHL opener.
Will be very interesting to see how this schedule works out. Teams play two games against each other every time they visit an arena. Often back to back (normally home and home) lead to some tensions in the second game. Like when playoffs get chippy. Could see some bad blood as the season wears on. I'm just hoping we get to actually attend some games this year. We moved our seats in the off-season and we're not dead center at Caps games.

Re: NHL 2021 Season
I like the set-up this year. Not sure I'll like it for the playoffs, but this staying in your division and playing a ton of games against your biggest rivals is great. I'd much rather watch a Flyers/Rangers game than I would a Flyers/Coyotes game. It's just the familiarity that's better. And heck, having a whole Canadian division is fantastic.
As for the playoffs, I'm not as enthused about only one team ultimately coming out of each division, I would've like to see at least some cross-divisional opportunities. With that said, at least now we know that there'll be one Canadian team in the final four. That's not often the case.

Yup, it's like 1967-68 all over again where one of the expansion teams was guaranteed a spot in the Cup. It was only a couple years ago when no Canadian team made the playoffs.

2011 was last time a Canada team played for the Cup (Vancouver) and last winner was 1993 (Montreal)

At least they got Winnipeg and Ottawa (not at the same time mind you) into the final four in some previous years. But yes, they haven't really challenged for the Cup recently.tribe_pride wrote: ↑Thu Jan 14, 2021 9:54 am 2011 was last time a Canada team played for the Cup (Vancouver) and last winner was 1993 (Montreal)

Caps start off with a W, but it was only Buffalo. Goalie will be interesting to watch. Samsonov got the win but gave up 4. Vanacek is starting tonight.

Re: NHL 2021 Season
Caps, Flyers and Bruins seem to be the early teams to beat in the East. Caps hadn't lost a game in regulation coming into last night. Down 3-0 after one to the Isles. We flipped to Netflix and by the time I checked back in late in the second it was 4-3 Caps and then 5-3 before the end of the period.
This season could end up being a CF with teams not playing because of Covid. I don't know what they'll do to make up games if the keep piling up.
