91 wins & counting & message sent sternly to Atlanta. On the other hand, furious with Roy Oswalt for not plunking somebody after Utley got beaned. To make matters worse, you probably won't see Utley play in Milwaukee this weekend, didn't even make the trip as he obviously got a concussion. Not good things there - see Sidney Crosby.

You have to have your teammates back, plain & simple.

I wonder what Victorino said to McCann when he came all the way down the third-base line after the beaning. I was there last night and, while it took the fans awhile to get into it, it was a playoff atmosphere by the 6th. It never gets old to boo Larry "Chipper" Jones! I would have drilled that pussy Heyward, but that's just me.

Different heroes every night for the Phils. Last night: Gload and Polanco. :thumb: On the other hand, Howard was absolutely brutal.

Just 6 more wins to cover the number!! Nice to pound the Brewers with Martinez, Valdez & Francisco all in the lineup.

They should rest the regulars more often!

Magic number is 11 -- Braves sweep Mets but are still 10 games out.

The Big Piece gives the Phils a 3-run lead early! :notworthy:

That's gotta give the Brewers batters a great feeling before they even face Halladay.

Another example of brilliant color commentary from Chris Wheeler. I'll try to start posting more of these.

The scene: Phils leading 5-1, Brewers batting in bottom of the eighth with a man on first, two outs, Ryan Braun at the plate versus Roy Halladay, who is at 112 pitches

Wheeler - "Well, ya figure this has gotta be the last batter for Halladay if Braun gets on and Fielder comes to the plate as the tie run."

Tom McCarthy - "If he does get Braun, don't you think it's his last batter anyway since he's approaching 120 pitches."

Wheeler - "Oh yeah. Absolutely."

Thanks for the insight Wheels.

I've never been a Wheeler fan. I don't dislike him, but I won't miss him either. He does know a lot about the game, but he can also be Captain Obvious. He will never say anything bad about the Phils, even when they deserve it, and he won't go on WIP. I guess they made fun of his hairpiece too many times.

Wheeler's math is as bad as his commentary. If Braun had reached base, Fielder wouldn't have been the "tie run" because the Phils had a 4-run lead! :dunce:

Magic number is 7 for home field throughout the playoffs.

Phils can clinch playoffs tomorrow with a win and a Cardinals loss.

The most telling thing for me regarding Wheels is that Harry Kalas flat out despised the man. That pretty much tells me all I need to know about Wheels.

Speaking of Harry the K, Comcast replayed his opening monologue intro during the first game post 9/11 and it made me emotional all over again. Damn I miss that guy.

The Braves better look in the rear view at that flock of red birds sneaking up on them. Not hard to do I guess when you just got swept on their field.

The Brewers & D-Backs are now tied in the loss column - Phils will get whoever loses this battle first.

Phils lose to the Astros, but the Cardinal also lose. The Phillies magic number for clinching a playoff berth is 1.

The Braves are currently tied at 4 with the Marlins. Marlins batting in the top of the 11th. The magic number to clinch the division is 6.

The magic number for home field throughout the playoffs is 7 over the D-Backs and Brewers (it might only be 6 against the Brewers since the Phils won the season series).

Really need the DBacks to get the Bravo's first....need to pass the Brew Crew.

FWIW - I think the D-Backs get the nod if they end in a tie since they won the season series 4-3.

Last night's loss was on me. Other than when I'm at a game, whenever I wear Phils gear and watch a game they lose. I thought I'd try it last night - heck it was the Astros & they get crushed. Won't hapen in October.

Might have a better chance in the NLDS, depending on how deep the D'Backs starting rotation is.

Was Hamels brought back too soon? He hasn't exactly been razor sharp since his return.
