So I have to ask: WTF happened to them? did they just decide to stop playing a month or two early? sheesh!
Cincinnati is what happened.

I picked them to win the central at the beginning of the season and was told I was wrong and it would be the Cubs and Cards...It looks like Cinci will run away with the division.

Sure, that's part of it. But StL has been losing a bunch of other games that they have no business losing....

MIchael Cuddyer has 15 rbi over his last 15 games, including 2 today.

He is also on a 10 game hitting streak

He may be the MVP of the Twins since the All Star Break last season. He has played RF, LF, CF (I think), 1st, and 3rd for the Twins...

I don't think he played LF, but he did play 2B for 1 game. Cuddyer was drafted as a SS.

Tigers/White Sox starting in about two hours. I'd like some pay back for the part the White Sox played in the Tiger late season swoon last season.

I'd like you to beat the Sux so the next time we got 8-2 over a 10 game stretch we actually increase our lead...not lose a half a game on it.

According to Dustin Morse, from the baseball communications department.

This all in tonights game:

Delmon Young, who now has 40 doubles this season, is the 16th different Twins player to record 40-or-more doubles in a season.

Joe Mauer has seven consecutive multi-hit games vs. the Royals. 2-for-3 so far tonight.

Delmon Young also has set a new career high with 39 doubles...passing his 2007 total of 38.

Delmon Young has a new career high with 95 rbi...passing his 2007 total of 93.

Cuddy is now at a 12-game hitting streak

Jim Thome ties Frank Robinson for eighth on all-time list with HR No. 586. Another long shot, this one estimated at 452 feet. His last 4 or 5 home runs are averaging something like 460ft.

EDIT: I over estimated, though not by much.

Per Mr. Morse: Jim Thome's last 4 home runs at Target Field - 452 ft, 480 ft, 418 ft, 449 ft = 1,799 feet! Average = 449.75 feet per home run.

I was about to say the same thing. I was starting to get worried. The Twins went something like 11-2 or 13-2 over a stretch and actually lost a half a game in the lead.

It's amazing how much a difference a 4.5 game lead compared to a 3.5 game lead can make in "comfort" for a fan. I still won't be comfortable until we don't have to play game 163 for the 3rd straight year.

Gil, have you officially moved, or is this just a house hunting trip?

Job hunting trip. Still have to sell the house in Minnesota. Probably be back and forth until then.

Besides NYC, this is the easiest city to get to baseball games. 20 minute train to Oakland Coliseum & Oracle Arena (Warriors), 30 minute train & 10 minute transfer to AT&T park. Heading to the A's game tonight.

Rays split their last series with the Yankees this season, win the season series, and pull within a half game of the division.

Remaining games:
Yankees: Home against Boston, then away against the Jays and Red Sox
Rays: Home against Seattle (won't face Felix) and Baltimore, then @ Kansas City

I feel good about our chances of picking up that half game and getting a division title. We have the tiebreaker (head-to-head) so we really only need to keep pace and finish the season tied or better. Magic number is 4 to clinch a playoff spot. So at this point I am rooting for the Sox, beat the Yankees a couple times for us and we'll gladly go in as a top 2 seed, and send the Yankees to Minnesota!

Rays pull even tonight and with a nice schedule advantage down the stretch seem to have the inside track to win the AL East. Wow 2 outta 3 years...
