Watching today's replay. If this course had some fiberglass TRex, a few windmills, etc it would be a great putt putt course.

I need to dust off the bag and play this year. I have some red dot ping zings that I hit well and a king cobra driver. I have an older Nike driver I use as a 3 wood and a Taylor Made copper 5 wood that I hit decently.

Maybe a pic thread of your golf bag is in order?

Speith is unfuckingconcious.

Rory may be #1 in the world, but there's no doubt who's playing the best golf in the world right now.

Old enough to remember VJ winning a major with a 9 wood in his bag. I used to carry one of those too :coffee:

You stud!

I could give you a 6 degree driver and you would learn to hit it the trajectory you want. That doesn't mean you'd hit it with efficiency.

Backspin creates lift. The higher the backspin rate the higher the trajectory.

Loft, CG, face angle, and swing also play a roll.

I have a relatively low swing speed and a very flat plane (see lie angle). I switched from a 10 to 13 years ago after hitting 10 identical marked balls with each and finding out my longest drive with the 10 was just past my shortest with the 13.

I flight the 13 on the same trajectory as the 10. I just carry it 10-15 yards further. This is because with the 10 I tend to hang back, and let my right shoulder work underneath to help the ball in the air. With the 13 I'm off my back foot sooner and clear my hips better. I can consistently turn the 13 over, with the 10 it's hard.

IOW, I'm a better athlete with the 13.

BTW, lofts have been going up on tour for quite some time. Senden won last year with a 12 degree driver.

But WTF does he know? I'm sure his swing speed is lower than yours. :kisswink:

Loft (especially in the woods) is one of the biggest killers of golf swings. :coffee:

Of course. But everything in golf should be informed by balance and athleticism.

I would live to golf on this course, from the men's tee's of course, not the Championship tees.

The USGA really screwed up choosing this course. Looks like shit. Who is watching this and getting motivated to play golf? Looks like a bad muni.

The USGA played a roll in designing it and were 100% in charge of set up. Did you watch an Open at Shinnecock? Ever seen The Open?

Welcome to golf!

I have seen Shinnecock in person, never played it though. This course has far more BS going on. The greens at Shinnecock are far better both visually and for playing on it.

Johnson is choking this away with 3 bogeys in the last 4 holes after playing so well all yesterday and early today. Will be interesting to see if he can turn this around over the final 5 holes.

Have to feel for Day who looks like he is losing it but he has an excuse having collapsed with Vertigo on Friday and then came back and played so well yesterday.

Right now, with 4 to go (5 for Day and Johnson), Spieth and Grace up by 2 over Scott who is finished and Johnson.

Oostheizen creeping around with 3 to go down by 3 but having birdied 4 straight including an insane birdie from way out (screwed up an early shot so pitching wedge from a distance for birdie)
