Southern Utah beat Sac in the early game by 8. Closer than the regular-season meetings, but still a disappointing end after a hot early-season start for the Hornets.

Lady Griz lead 36-14 at the half over the Bobcats. MSU didn't score over the last ≈8 minutes of the first period.

MSU has cut the deficit to 12, but they're getting in some serious, serious foul trouble.

52-46 Griz with 8 to go. Griz look terrible this half. They lose more big leads than any team in the country.

The Lady Griz are actually undefeated when leading with 5 minutes to go this season (and 17-2 when leading at halftime).

Lady Griz hold on to win by 9. The Bobcats made a ton of shots in the second half, but too many fouls & not enough depth. Montana will play Suutah tomorrow in the early game.

I didn't mean to imply the lose very game they get up big in...just that you could spot them 20 and almost guarantee the other team would get back in it.

Fixed an error in the bracket above. Apparently NoDak is playing the early game tomorrow, and not the late game like most hosts do.

SuperHornet's Athletics Hall of Fame includes Jacksonville State kicker Ashley Martin, the first girl to score in a Division I football game. She kicked 3 PATs in a 2001 game for J-State.

NoDak blew out ISU in the first game. Montana just overcame a 13-point deficit with about 7:00 left to beat SUU by 4. Hopefully the Lady Griz have some energy left.

North Dakota wins the championship by 17. Any realistic hope of a Montana comeback was dashed when Torry Hill hurt her knee with 7:24 to go. Hopefully that won't cause the WNIT to think twice about an at-large for Montana (EWU & ISU both got at-larges last year). Suutah clinches the WNIT auto.

edit - Selvig says he thinks Hill tore her ACL again (she also tore one her senior year of HS). If true, that would be two straight Big Sky title games where a Lady Griz player ripped an ACL.

Championship Result

Post by Mvemjsunpx »

  • UMT 55-72 UND; North Dakota shoots 57%, by far a season-worst for the Lady Griz defense
        • Torry Hill scores 21 in her final game, but no other UM player had more than 7
Four No-Nicks scored in double figures, led by regular-season MVP Madi Buck's 14
NoDak won the boards by double digits as usual
