Top 30 for me. The loss to Hofstra is killer but I still can't find more than 30 teams that I would pick to beat JMU.
Re: Where does a 2-4 James Madison Belong?
Not top 25.... the way they are looking when Thorpe is in the game, not top 30

Re: Where does a 2-4 James Madison Belong?
I would tend to have them at around 30 or so

They are NOT on my radar.
I fear I'll be winning my bet with JMU DJ very soon.

Top 40. Still on my radar, but no serious consideration for top 25 this week

Not in the top 25 right now. They may be good on paper, but 2-4 on the field is not good enough to get ranked.

Enough with JMU.......they have been given WAY too much adulation this season.

Sitting at home on thanksgiving weekend.
but they could definitely be a spoiler for other teams that are still in contention (though I don't know who is left on their schedule)

They have them all on the road (at W&M, at Delaware, at UMass)........I don't think that they will win any of them.JayJ79 wrote:Sitting at home on thanksgiving weekend.

If JMU wins out and finishes 7-4, are they in the playoffs? Will they get credit from the committee for winning their last 5 games?mainejeff wrote:They have them all on the road (at W&M, at Delaware, at UMass)........I don't think that they will win any of them.JayJ79 wrote:Sitting at home on thanksgiving weekend.

Re: Where does a 2-4 James Madison Belong?
They win out, I'd say their in. If they win the last five, that gives them wins at William & Mary, at Delaware and at Umass. That, as well as their deep run last year should propel them to the playoffs. They don't win, they are done, in more ways than one.BlueHen86 wrote:If JMU wins out and finishes 7-4, are they in the playoffs? Re: Where does a 2-4 James Madison Belong?
this team reminds me a lot of EWU last year. A lot of hype but just isn't doing anything.
They are finally out of my top 25, and unless they run the table I am not sure they will make it back in.

Re: Where does a 2-4 James Madison Belong?
Does this really need to be asked? Is there anyone who still believes we are truly a Top 25 anymore?
My guess is no, maybe Hofstra wins out and that loss looks a lot better, but unless that happens it is a bad loss. The last 7-4 team to make it was UNH in 2007, and they were 5-2 at this point of the season. I know the committee places an emphasis on form, but is a 7-4 CAA better than an 8-3 Big Sky or Missouri Valley this year in their eyes? I honestly don't know.BlueHen86 wrote:If JMU wins out and finishes 7-4, are they in the playoffs? Will they get credit from the committee for winning their last 5 games?

They belong in the place they are most accustomed to. Behind Old Dominion. Why should football be any different than any other sport?

Re: Where does a 2-4 James Madison Belong?
Nowhere near the Top 25. 2-4 teams should not be places in front of 4-2 or 4-3 teams from the power conferences.
Re: Where does a 2-4 James Madison Belong?
They've been a tough team to put a label on this season - an OT loss to (admittedly) a rather weak FBS, a solid win a Liberty, a tight game with the defending NC's, then meltdowns against Hofstra and 'Nova. I don't know if it's Mickey's QB experiment that has done them in to this point or what - they clearly have some talent, but can't seem to bring it consisently week to week.
Re: Where does a 2-4 James Madison Belong?
They don't belong in the top 25. They would be more than a handful for most teams outside the top 25 (and not in the CAA...
) but that is about it. They certainly don't deserve to be in the discussion about the playoffs now either, so just stop that.
Re: Where does a 2-4 James Madison Belong?
I think you're jokin', but the only way ODU would jump ahead of JMU is if we beat VMI (our common opponent) and win out the rest of the way, and the Dukes lose the rest of the way. Then statistically, yes, I'd say we'd jump ahead. On the field, JMU would still crush us (I think...for their sake).CAA Flagship wrote:They belong in the place they are most accustomed to. JMU is outside of my top 25 right now. A win against VMI is meh; a win against Liberty is good. I'll give 'em a pass on the Maryland loss, but the other three are still FCS losses, and the last time I checked, a "good" loss is still a loss. At 2-4, it'd be embarrassing to any poll if they were included.

Re: Where does a 2-4 James Madison Belong?
You have to consider, though, that three of their four lossed are to CAA teams. They do have that one bad loss to Maryland, but given the overall strength of their competition, I think the Dukes should still be ranked.
