Big Sky Predictions 10-17

I enter this week at 31-4 so far this year. Pretty impressive, but the games have all been rather easy. As the weeks roll on, the games get tough and more interesting. This week has a few interesting games that should test anyone brave enough to make a prediction. That said, my predictions this week. All are my opinion only and all are open to discussion.

EWU @ UM---So what happened with these two teams last week? The Grizzlies let Cal Poly stick around before coming to life at the end, which is more that what the Eagles did against Weber State. Everyone within the conference can say that their big game is against the Grizzlies, but the Eagles have had marginal success in Missoula. They may need every bit of it this week, maybe more...UM 30, EWU 24.

South Dakota @ MSU---How long will the Bobcats rely on the defense until the offense comes alive? The defense has been playing exceptional, while the offense is still trying to gel. Last week, the defense held Northern Arizona as best they could, but a lack of an offense did them in. Will the offense show up? This week, the Great West's South Dakota comes calling. It goes without saying the defense will show up, will the offense?...MSU 21, South Dakota 10.

NAU @ PSU---After last week, these two teams probably looked forward to the rain in Portland. The Jacks got a hard fought, frozen win at Montana State, while the Vikings earned one of their few road wins at Northern Colorado in recent years. No snow for either team this week, but plenty of rain. The scores should look more reasonable...NAU 42, PSU 24.

UNC @ ISU---So let's look at this from a ways away. Offense, UNC, non existent. ISU, non existent. Defense, UNC, possible, ISU, maybe. Last week the Bears could not hold on to the lead against Portland State, while the Bengals were not able to get anything done against Sacramento State. With everything else going on in the conference, is anyone going to watch this game?...UNC 13, ISU 7.

Sac State @ WSU---Here are the Wildcats, righting a ship last week at Eastern Washington in a big way. Here are the Hornets, taking care of business against Idaho State last week. The Wildcats have only one conference loss, but what makes this a big game is the Hornets also have one loss. The Wildcats should dominate this game, but the question is will they?...WSU 31, Sac State 26.

Other than that, great job as usual.

Glad to see some people read the words. I thought you all just saw the picks. The Eagles have been a thorn in the side of the Griz for so long. You're right that they always bring the heat. Even with me "misquoting" myself, I think the score I gave may be close (UM 30-24). I doubt it will be a blowout, even with EWU's performance last week against Weber State.

If the Eagles do suffer a blowout at Missoula, it could be the start of a downfall this year.

I was thinking that on the way to the game today, Weber should dominate but will they? Im glad they did dominate.

Even though I knew there was a good chance we’d lose to Montana, I also knew we we’re capable of pulling off the upset, which is why I’m not 5-0 this week. The game however, was everything it was built up to be, as Eastern came to play and kept the Griz faithful on the edge of their seats all game long. I was a little surprised to see Sac State get blown out so bad. The season isn’t over yet.
