10/10/09 Offensive POW

Post by Ursus A. Horribilis »

I know it's late in the week but who would you nominate for last week. It can be anybody but I would like to get 5-10 good nominations and try a thread poll on this. Put up their stats if you nominate someone.

I'll nominate the RB From Austin Peay

Ryan White - Austin Peay - RB
32/228 TD 1/6 receiving
(currently ranked # 4 in FCS)

and for laughs
Brad George - TXST - QB
30/46 337 2 TDs - in a losing effort
(currently ranked # 12 in FCS yards, # 8 ypg)

Okay, I'll bite:

Marc Mariani, Montana WR - 6 catches for 200 yards and 2 TDs (33 yards/catch). And the two TDs were both because of yards after the catch, not because they were bombs that he simply ran under.

He did uncharacteristically drop a catchable pass, though--which made my jaw drop, it's so unlike him. As it was around 20 degrees with wind chills under 10 degrees at the time, though, I forgave him. ;) He more than made up for it later in the game.

Holy crap I'm behind this week but that's a good day out of Mr. White. Thanks CatMom. :thumb:

Thanks Crunch, he had a hell of a day as well. Glad you chimed in cuz I'd like to get the "homer" perspective from those on the board and see if we can get a POW honor going each week for this site. I appreciate it.

Brian Fowler, Central Conn. St.
Jr., RB, 6-2, 220, Geneva, NY/Erie CC

Fowler totaled 185 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns in helping Central Connecticut State extend its win streak to three. The junior running back averaged 8.4 yards per carry in the Blue Devils’ 42-21 NEC victory over visiting Robert Morris. Fowler rushed 19 times for 159 yards, the highest total in the NEC this past week, and two touchdowns while adding 15 yards on two receptions. He logged four rushes in excess of 10 yards, including a 66-yard second-half scoring scamper that increased CCSU’s lead to 35-14. Fowler’s first touchdown of the day came through the air, a nine-yard catch, and tied the game at 7-7 in the first quarter. Later in the opening half, he gave the Blue Devils a 13-7 advantage on a one-yard touchdown plunge

So does UNI judging by NDSU's run game.

OK, I added a poll to this that runs until tomorrow at this time. Just running this to try something out and see if we can get something going here with fans nominating who they think is worthy. I'd appreciate it if you feel so inclined to vote on this. Next week it can be done earlier and maybe if it gets enough interest we can have the POW's displayed on the home page for that week. :thumb:
