How good is Stephen F Austin?
Just beat McNeese (you remember McNeese, the team that won in Boone)
SFA is 4-1, with only loss a close one to SMU. And before you laugh at SMU, they just beat East Carolina (the "good" FBS team App lost too as well)
Wins at WIU, and home against North Dakota, McNeese and a d2 (92-0).
And, if you want to laugh at win over UND, UND also beat one of UMass' "signature" wins, Stony Brook, and played Texas Tech far tougher than K-State, UMass' "good FBS loss"
SFA is top 15 for now, IMHO.

They are good. Moses is clicking at QB. They should have beat SMU and lost at the end.
Top 15 for sure.

2 weeks in a row in my top 25, and they cracked the top 20 this week.

Re: How good is Stephen F Austin?
They're 25. They have to get one more quality win to get high in my poll.

Good analysis. I'm going to have them top 15 as welldbackjon wrote:Just beat McNeese (you remember McNeese, the team that won in Boone)

Re: How good is Stephen F Austin?
Seem to have a pretty tough defense. I like the D-Ends, quick with good hands.

SFA is definitely in the driver's seat for the auto-bid, but they still seem a bit marginal. UCA still looks to be the class of the conference.
I'm not surprised they beat an overrated McNeese team, but I am a bit shocked the game only had 29 total points.

Re: How good is Stephen F Austin?
McNeese has a good D as well and shut down SFA's running game (#59), which seems to be their only weak spot. (MSU rushing O is #*) Then again, they both shut down each other's passing games. Yards but nothing much coming from them. (SFA # 1, MSU #25) I was waiting for both of these QB's to face good D's and it happened in this one. (SFA #32, MSU #60). Oerhaps not the best, but fairly equal in ability on teh D.
The SLC has great offenses this year. It's the defenses that we always have a problem with. If the best D in your conference is ranked 32, that's pretty telling. Sometimes your O can sustain you but as we learned all too well, yesterday, it doesn't always happen.
I can see SFA taking UCA though and if that happens they can probably run the table. I just see issues with their running game and if that one weak spot will hurt them or not. If it doesn't they'll get the autobid and McNeese may be a qualifier. If they don't beat UCA and no one else does either, but win the rest, they have the edge over MSU. Gee, will they get the "you're not the real champion" label too, if that happens?
(UCA's D would be ranked #24 if they were included in the main chart)

Re: How good is Stephen F Austin?
Interesting... I was trolling over at AGS and posters over there think it is crazy to be thinking that SFA should be ranked....
"Born in other countries, yet believing you could be happy in this, our laws acknowledge, as they should do, your right to join us in society, conforming, as I doubt not you will do, to our established rules. That these rules shall be as equal as prudential considerations will admit, will certainly be the aim of our legislatures, general and particular." --Thomas Jefferson, letter to Hugh White, 1801

MSU O #6, D # 60
UCA if ranked wb # 24 in both
SFA 4-1
MSU 3-2
UCA 4-1
SFA beats MSU
What's their issue, stupidity?
Re: How good is Stephen F Austin?
They put up 60+ on UND, a team that has 1 vote in the TSN top 25 and sports a moral victory against Texas Tech.
Dear Lord, We come before you and humbly ask you to grant our prayer for a veil of protection to be placed over Donald Trump. May your will be done. In Jesus name we pray. Amen

Re: How good is Stephen F Austin?
I just watched most of that game between Stephen F Austin -and- McNeese. Too many fumbles by McNeese, especially at end of game with them driving toward the SFA end zone at about the 35. SFA took away the deep pass pretty well.
Wasn't McNeese undefeated year before last in regular season play?
SFA only won four games last year but had 20 seniors coming back. 16 to 13 is a good win for the LumberJacks. They are 4-1 now.
The problem that many people seem to have with their SLC is the way it fades late in the season and in the playoffs. Really hard to hold that against the teams in the conference though.
