WEB 23-24 CSU
NAU 17-34 UA
UMT 17-10 UCD
DIX 20-23 MTST
USD 12-31 NCOL

  • NConf Record: 4-5
    Overall: 6-11

    vs. FCS: 2-1
    Overall: 2-1

Best Performance: (#11) Weber St. 23, (FBS) Colorado St. 24 - After losing the play-up game they were supposed to win, the Wildcats got within a fumbled snap inside the 10 of winning the FBS game they were supposed to lose.

Worst Performance: Montana St. 23, (DII) Dixie St. 20 - Despite getting DB Kevin Retoriano back from injury, the Bobcats give up 417 passing yards to a lower division foe.

Most Surprising Result: Montana St. 23, (DII) Dixie St. 20 - I thought the DII struggles were over when Mike Kramer left.

Southland

TXCOLL 0-92 SFA
NDSU 45-48 SHSU
UNKY 20-69 SELA
NWST 17-38 GRAM
MCNSE 40-35 APPST
DUQ 7-14 NICH

  • NConf Record: 5-1
    Overall: 8-6

    vs. FCS: 3-1
    Overall: 3-2

Best Performance: (#16) McNeese St. 40, (#2) Appalachian St. 35 - Todd Pendland runs for 127 yards, catches 10 passes for 121 yards, and scores 3 total TDs in this shocking upset.

Worst Performance: Northwestern St. 17, Grambling 38 - Demons give up a whopping four defensive touchdowns.

Most Surprising Result: (#16) McNeese St. 40, (#2) Appalachian St. 35 - Are App State & Henderson State equally good? Since McNeese beat them both in similar, cardiac fashion.

Missouri Valley

AP 21-38 YSU

  • NConf Record: 4-4
    Overall: 5-11

    vs. FCS: 4-2
    Overall: 5-3

Best Performance: (#21) South Dakota St. 44, Georgia Southern 6 - Kyle Minett runs for 128 yards and 2 TDs while the Jackrabbit defense forces 4 turnovers in this unexpectedly lopsided win.

Worst Performance: Indiana St. 0, Eastern Illinois 31 - After somehow avoiding a blowout at the hands of Louisville, the Sickamores return to normal by gaining just 95 yards at home.

Most Surprising Result: (#21) South Dakota St. 44, Georgia Southern 6 - The Jackrabbits begin their playoff push in satisfying fashion.

OVC

SEMO 3-70 CIN
EIU 31-0 INST
JAXST 9-19 FSU

  • NConf Record: 3-5
    Overall: 8-8

    vs. FCS: 2-2
    Overall: 3-3

Best Performance: (#23) Jacksonville St. 9, (FBS) Florida St. 19 - Sure, the Seminoles were on a short week, but it's still pretty impressive for the Gamecocks to shutout FSU for 46 minutes.

Worst Performance: Tennessee-Martin 14, Missouri St. 24 - The Skyhawks miss all three of their field goal attempts.

Most Surprising Result: (#23) Jacksonville St. 9, (FBS) Florida St. 19 - Gamecocks actually led 9-7 with less than a minute left.

Tomorrow: the rest of the playoff conferences.

Good write up, as always.

Big Sky:
Weber played great. Montana schools had unimpressive wins.

Southland:
McNeese put themselves firmly in the NC hunt with the win

OVC:
Too bad Jax State is ineligible for playoffs

MoValley:
Jackrabbits certainly made a statement

Let's not be ridiculous....Henderson St has a respectable defense.... :coffee:

Patriot League

LEH 17-38 NOVA
RMU 23-26 BUCK
SB 13-23 COLG
SACHRT 21-52 HC
LAF 28-3 GTOWN

  • NConf Record: 3-1
    Overall: 4-4

    vs. FCS: 3-1
    Overall: 4-4

Best Performance: (#25) Holy Cross 52, Sacred Heart 21 - Crusader QB Dominic Randolph can apparently get it done on the ground, too, as he ran for 64 yards and 2 TDs to go along with 274 passing yards & another 2 TDs.

Worst Performance: Georgetown 3, Lafayette 28 - Hoyas have now lost 20 of their last 21 Patriot League games.

Most Surprising Result: (#25) Holy Cross 52, Sacred Heart 21 - Crusaders dismantle what was supposed to be a good NEC team.

CAA

HOF 40-24 BRY
UNH 23-16 BALL
ALB 7-44 UMASS
MAINE 17-7 NE
LEH 17-38 NOVA
RICH 16-15 UD
CCSU 14-33 W&M
JMU 35-38 MD (OT)

  • NConf Record: 5-1
    Overall: 13-4

    vs. FCS: 4-0
    Overall: 7-0

Best Performance: (#9) New Hampshire 23, (FBS) Ball St. 16 - A week after struggling with a bad team, the Wildcats hold the defending (albeit depleted) MAC-West champs to just 127 yards.

Worst Performance: Northeastern 7, (#20) Maine 17 - The Huskies have now lost 10 out of 11 to the Black Bears.

Most Surprising Result: (#7) James Madison 35, (FBS) Maryland 38 (OT) - Whaddya know? The Dukes actually showed up in a winnable FBS game.

MEAC

MORG 0-41 AKR
HOW 7-45 RUT
HAMP 24-31 AAMU
NFOLK 13-17 NCAT
FAMU 34-10 WSSU
SCSU 24-3 BCOOK

  • NConf Record: 0-3
    Overall: 3-4

    vs. FCS: 0-1
    Overall: 2-1

Best Performance: (#15) South Carolina St. 24, Bethune-Cookman 3 - The Bulldogs hold the normally vaunted Wildcat rushing attack to just 14 yards.

Worst Performance: Norfolk St. 13, North Carolina A&T 17 - The Spartans' impressive 2007 run seems like a lifetime ago.

Most Surprising Result: Morgan St. 0, (FBS) Akron 41 - The shutout doesn't surprise me but I figured the capable Bear defense would at least do its job.

SoCon

GWEBB 27-20 WCU
MCNSE 40-35 APPST
ELON 41-7 PRESBY
CHSO 14-42 WOFF
GSU 6-44 SDKST
JVILLE 0-27 SAM
FUR 38-20 UTC

  • NConf Record: 3-3
    Overall: 7-8

    vs. FCS: 3-3
    Overall: 6-3

Best Performance: Samford 27, Jacksonville 0 - The Bulldogs outgain the Pioneer League favorites 411-101.

Worst Performance: Western Carolina 20, Gardner-Webb 27 - 3 turnovers & a late Bulldog score cost the Catamounts a chance at a solid win.

Most Surprising Result: Georgia Southern 6, (#21) South Dakota St. 44 - The Eagles suffer their second worst I-AA/FCS loss since restarting football in 1982. Only the 45-0 quarterfinal loss to Montana in 1995 was worse (they also lost to then-NAIA Gardner-Webb 44-6 in '82).

It's a great win for New Hampshire, but I don't think Ball State is the defending MAC champ. Otherwise, nice write-up.

Yeah, you're right. I forgot about that. They started 12-0 and then got upset by Buffalo in the MAC title game.

    Overall: 1-2

Best Performance: UC Davis 10, (#5) Montana 17 - The Aggies contained Chase Reynolds and shredded the Griz D outside the 20, but they looked pretty clueless whenever they got into the redzone.

Worst Performance: South Dakota 7, (#4) Northern Iowa 66 - Coyotes allow 712 yards of offense.

Most Surprising Result: (#12) Cal Poly 38, Sacramento St. 19 - Not too surprising, but the Mustangs don't look like they're having much trouble adjusting to the new coaching staff.

Big South

    Overall: 7-9

    vs. FCS: 3-1
    Overall: 4-2

Best Performance: Prairie View A&M 18, (FBS) New Mexico St. 21 - Though he didn't play until well into the second half, Panther QB K.J. Black threw for more yards than both starting QBs combined in a near dramatic comeback.

Worst Performance: Arkansas-Pine Bluff 45, (NAIA) Langston 30 - The Golden Lions allowed only 107 yards and forced 8 turnovers against the NAIA Lions, yet they still gave up 30 points and only won by 15.

Most Surprising Result: Jackson St. 7, Tennessee St. 14 - The SWAC-East favorites give up 217 rushing yards to depleted TSU.

Most Surprising Result: St. Francis (PA) 31, Morehead St. 0 - Hmm… maybe the close loss to UNH last week wasn't a complete insane fluke.

Independents

ALST 20-17 SAVST

  • Non-Ind Record: 1-2
    Overall: 3-3

Worst Performance: Savannah St. 17, Alabama St. 20 - Tigers miss a golden opportunity to get just their second DI win in the last 5 years.

Most Surprising Result: Old Dominion 49, (DII) Virginia Union 17 - After opening with a win over a bad DII, the Monarchs follow with a blowout of a halfway decent one.

I'd rather not. Formatting something like standings is really annoying on a message board and it would probably make things look a bit cluttered.

You can access the FCS standings here, though.
