UNI played 9 frosh Saturday
UNI played 9 frosh Saturday
Nine true freshmen or redshirt freshmen saw their first action for the Panthers on Saturday. Those Panthers seeing their first game action included: Carlos Anderson, Varmah Sonie, Timmy Johnson, Andre Martin Jr., Garrett Scott, Terrell McBride, Will Jackson, Tim Sauer Jr., Kyle Bernard.
Doesn't look like there will be a drop off anytime soon.

Lemme guess - they were all on the FG squad, right?

Carlos Anderson- Starting Runningback -RFR
Varmah Sonie - CB - True Frosh
Timmy Johnson - WR - RFR
Andre Martin Jr. - DB - RFR
Garrett Scott, - DB - RFR
Terrell McBride - DB - RFR
Will Jackson - LB - RFR
Tim Sauer Jr. - OL - RFR
Kyle Bernard. - P - True Frosh
I'm pretty sure Garret started at a safety and I'm thinkin Terrell and Varmah started at the CB with Andre rotating in. But i'm not positive on who started.

That's what happens when half your team is either injured or serving suspension.clenz wrote:WrongRob Iola wrote:Lemme guess - they were all on the FG squad, right?

One positive is that they all got valuable game experience. The nerves won't be as high strung next time they go in.

I'm personally hoping that Iowa is just really bad and we don't know it yet. Somehow, I think I'm wrong...

9?? That's childs play. According to the 2-deep heading into the Albany game, 16 freshmen are listed on the depth chart with another seven non-rookies going to suit up in the Blue and White for the first time. In addition, 14 returning sophomores are on the list.

We have a good team this year. Iowa is overrated too.BeauFoster wrote:I'm personally hoping that Iowa is just really bad and we don't know it yet. Somehow, I think I'm wrong...

That is nice, but next year will be a rebuilding year for UNI. We will lose the whole o-line, most all of the D-line, two great LBs, our QB, and a safety.

We lost most of the Oline this year, and we will be fine at QB. We lost our #1 RB in school history and 2 great WRs last year,DJH wrote:That is nice, but next year will be a rebuilding year for UNI. We will lose the whole o-line, most all of the D-line, two great LBs, our QB, and a safety.

The biggest challenge to UNI re-loading vs. re-building next year will be the off-the-field stuff.DJH wrote:That is nice, but next year will be a rebuilding year for UNI. We will lose the whole o-line, most all of the D-line, two great LBs, our QB, and a safety.
Our coaches seem to do a good job of recruiting and grooming players so that they fill the future needs that come up due to players graduating and whatnot.
However, such planning can be disrupted by too many players getting into trouble and being booted off the team.
The players need to realize that they live under the microscope now, and they can't get away with the things that other college kids can get away with.

I didn't say we would be decimated. I just don't see us as title contenders next year. Losing Kinney, Lane, Ruffin, Hodge, Mahoney, and the entire o-line is huge.pantherrob82 wrote:We lost most of the Oline this year, and we will be fine at QB. If my brain is working (which is highly questionable more times than not) we also fielded 9. At least by reviewing the roster and depending on my recall, that's what I come up with. They accounted for 23 of our 48 points. (3 TD's and 5 PAT)

Iowa pounded Iowa St today, although I don't think that proves much.HI54UNI wrote:We have a good team this year. Iowa is overrated too.BeauFoster wrote:I'm personally hoping that Iowa is just really bad and we don't know it yet. Somehow, I think I'm wrong...

Re: UNI played 9 frosh Saturday
I think the point was...how many actually played in the game. I mean I could add a whole list too but that's not what I came away with as the intent of the original post.bobbythekidd wrote:9??
