Texas State vs. Angelo St

Post by slycat »

My thoughts from watching the game.

Offense: Our "best" WR was out hurt. Passes were spread across many others and they were sick. Our passing game looks to have lost nothing from last year.

RBs: Bush went out hurt after first play. Seems to be minor as he was wlaking around and on the bike. True freshman Reddic will be amazing in the future.

QB: George threw two picks. He was shaky int he first half but rebounded really well. I expect great things. Was hoping to see more from Freshman Hawkins.

Defense: Secondary looked great. Thompson was a stud. Run defense looked good too. Defense fell apart in the last 20 minutes.

Special Teams: Horrible. Tackling sucked, punting sucked, XPs sucked. Hope it gets better. Starting kicker was hurt so we'll see.

We were without Joe Bell too, so when he gets back it can only be better. I think they'll improve leaps and bounds as the year progresses.

Special Teams - have to agree there. I never canfigure out what they want Follis to do. Course, the one play where he took off for the 1st down worked. But he has to remember he's not a RB. Hopefully when Batchelor returns our PK will improve. The one bad snap for the PAT (missed) was inexcuseable. I didn't see who snapped that but Follis didn't have time to right the ball. Coverage sucked. I do recall the coaches saying this was a weak spot they hoped to work and improve on. They better!

I agree. The D didn't give up any any until late in the 3rd quarter. Then you could tell they were getting a little tired (we don't have much depth) and they gave up a few TDs. But all in all I was very impressed. They stopped the Rams when they had great field position due to turnovers.

When our injured players come back this team will be very good.

11 receivers were used last night. I believe Garcia may never see QB duties. He was our top receiver last night. More than Griggs and Dillard.... I was impressed.
